 Terrific site. Fabulous views of the sea loch and surrounding hills from all over this smallish site. Some hard standing pitches with electric hook up directly overlook the sea loch but all pitches enjoy good views. We were lucky and got a loch side pitch with spectacular reflections within the views across the loch and the added bonus of a fabulous sunset sky. Facilities spotless. Showers good. Shower block tad chilly but OK as we visited in good weather. Booking system is efficient with notices placed on pitches which are reserved. Good site manager - always ready to help and often to be found busy strimming or tidying the pitches. Booking recommended as deservedly popular. Take bikes as cycle rides abound. Shops and restaurants in nearby Dunvegan but not tested as we stayed on site to enjoy the fabulous loch side views.

We moved to this site as the C&CC site was full. How lucky we were!
Great little site with good facilities and a view to die for. We camped with the sea loch 6 feet from the front of the van. Absolutely wonderful.
10 minute walk into the village where there are 2 bakeries and restaurants etc (although we did not try the restaurant) and a nice walk 'two churches'.
Best site we stayed on during our Skye trip.

The site is situated right on the loch with the majority of the ehu pitches on the loch side. Well set out with plenty of space between each hardstanding.
Toilets and showers were very clean and well heated, plenty of piping hot water. There are several fresh water taps around the site and also a chem disposal and laundry.
The owner, Colin, is a delightful chap, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. When we arrived he wasn't there but a note in the office to pitch up and see him at 6pm.
Dunvegan itself is 10 minutes walk at most. Both bakeries are lovely, Dunvegan Bakery more for breads and rolls, Janes for gorgeous cakes and chocolates (we didn't find either to be over-priced to be fair). The castle is a few minutes drive and worth the £7 entry fee as it includes the gardens which are spectacular. We also visited the Giant Angus MacAskgill exhibition - its only £2 and a good bit of fun, well worth it. There are two small supermarket stores in the village and a couple of hotels, plenty to cover all eventualities.
This is a brilliant campsite, well run and situated in a great spot for Skye attractions. Would not hesitate to recommend and we would certainly visit again.

We stayed 3 nights in August 2013 in our 6P family tent. I really enjoyed the stay on Skye. The weather was brilliant and we visited Portree (fishing village), walked up to the Millienium Stone (Dunvegan), and strolled to the Coral Beaches. We saw seals and a distant Dunvegan Castle. The campsite itself is in a fantastic location right on the edge of the loch. I would not say that this was a family campsite due to all the comings and goings of campervans and motorhomes. The site does sometimes feel like a car park. There is no field where children can play and the loch side is not really kid friendly. The man who runs the site is laid back and told us to pitch wherever we liked. We found the last flat spot at the bottom of the hill (you do need a strong tent for the wind). The toilet block was clean. The showers were hot and free and there was usually one available. There is a need to replace all shower curtains with doors as my 12 year old got a shock one morning from a confused German woman who had not worked out the curtains were hiding the showers! The village has shops, pubs etc. The Dunvegan bakery (right by the entrance of the road for the campsite) is great for breakfast, bread rolls and cakes and is reasonably priced. Janes Cakes along the road however is a different story. If you want to pay £4. 99 for a chocolate muffin (yes that's what I meant - per muffin) then Janes Cakes is the place to go! The midges didn't shock me as much as the price of those cakes. Who pays £4. 99 for a bit of flapjack really! The price of the campsite however was very reasonable at £15 per night for me, dh and dd (12). I would definitely recommend this campsite for a couple of nights whilst visiting the northwest of Skye.

Booked in for a few nights. The site was easy to find with a sat nav but look out for the painted sign as is easily missed. Should of looked at the prices beforehand but since when is above 12 years old classed as an adult. The site has great views over the loch but could be very open to the weather. Most pitches will need some form of levelling as the site is generally sloping. There is a new toilet block but does not appear to be fully finished, but there was plenty of hot water. There was also a laundry which cost £3. 50 per wash and a tumble drier. There are a couple of small shops and petrol station 300 metres away which sell the basics. For the nearest supermarket you have to travel to the CO-OP in Portree.
Overall a nice little site if a little expensive for what it provides.

We decided to have a weeks holiday at Kinloch as we enjoyed it so much last year. I booked in advance and thought I'd be cheeky and ask, if possible, we could have the same pitch as last time. On arrival we found the owner had reserved us the very pitch we wanted. Nothing is too much for this man.
The toilet block and washing/drying area has been upgraded since our last visit. Everything is spotless and the bins are emptied regularly. There is a great indoor sink area for dishes.
The owner has a supply of books you can borrow and also dvds, he is a local man so anything you want to find or places to go visit just ask.
This site is so quiet and peaceful with stunning views and very good value. Approx £20 a night for 2 adults, 2 kids with hook up.
Showers are push button, bit too hot for me but better that than too cold!
Plenty area for tents and level hard standing for motorhomes and caravans. If you pre book your pitch will probably be on the loch side with uninterrupted views up Dunvegan Loch.
As you approach the site, when you turn off the main road and cross over the bridge, the road bends to the right alongside the river. Ahead you will see the road bends left up the hill, if you engage 1st gear at the bottom you will sail up the hill, the entrance is on your right just before the top of the hill. Sounds worse than it is.
Can't rate this site highly enough.
This is the site to stay at on Skye in my opinion.

Travelled from Mallaig by ferry and toured Skye visiting Waternish and a lovely pub called Stein Inn after being at Trumpan and Ardmore Point. Wonderful views of the isles from there and dog friendly also.
As others have stated this is a friendly compact site and offers wonderful views up the loch. Our hardstanding pitch had been reserved for our 27' home on wheels. This is a wonderful location at the head of a sea loch. We were fortunate enough to get a hard standing level pitch right on the edge of the loch. We had uninterrupted views right across the loch.
The welcome was pleasant and we were made to feel at home. Very dog friendly.
The toilet block was clean and well maintained. Waste water drain facilities were provided for motorhomes as well as a fill up hose. The village is about ten minutes walk from the site so we didn't explore.
We would certainly go back if the opportunity arose as you cannot really fault the location, facilities, customer service or value for money.

Had a lovely 4 nights at this site. The site sits right on the loch offering lovely views. Facilities are very clean. The owner must be one of the friendliest, most helpful men I have come across on a site - nothing was too much bother. When we decided to leave a day early (due to non-moving, low lying mist!) he refunded the night's payment.
The site is very well located for exploring the west of the island - and we enjoyed some lovely walks and some great sightseeing. Well worth a return visit if we go back up to Skye.

Came here because of the rave reviews on this site. We can't say that the site was bad, but I certainly don't think it is quite worth the 10/10 that people seem to keep rating it!
It is in quite a nice location and the views are great undoubtably. However they seem to have recently added further hardstanding areas for motorhomes right in the centre of the site and it looks horrible. They have even used motorway-style barriers. The middle of the site now looks quite industrial and barren - glad we didn't have to stay in that bit! Fortunately there are plenty of nice grassy spaces for tents!
The toilets and showers are really pretty basic compared to many of the sites we've visited. There is plenty of hot water but both the showers and toilets are small and cramped and not very well designed.
The site is a reasonable price (£14 per night for two adults). It was a shame that there wasn't a shop at the site for milk and bread as the nearest supermarket is 22 miles away in Portree if the local shots are shut.
The village of Dunvegan is within easy walking distance but it really is nothing to write home about. There is a fantastic little bakery (Jann's Cakes) that really is a lifesaver and a little village store and greengrocer (not open on Sunday) but the pubs were pretty ropey in our opinion.

This is a wonderful location at the head of a sea loch. We were fortunate enough to get a hard standing level pitch right on the edge of the loch. We had uninterrupted views right across the loch. The toilet block was clean and well maintained. Waste water drain facilities were provided for motorhomes as well as a fill up hose. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. There was wifi on the site but this was a pay as you go service by a private provider, Highland WiFi. I wasn't able to access it anyway for whatever reason. The village is about ten minutes walk from the site. We enjoyed a meal in one of the pubs but sadly there was only one other diner so there was no real atmosphere. We would certainly go back if the opportunity arose.

Skye is beautiful and the views from Kinloch up Dunvegan Loch as the sun sets at the far end are just breathtaking. We were unsure whether to book Kinloch or the Camping & Caravan Club site, past the latter and whilst looked fine we are so glad we stayed at Kinloch for the view. Colin the site owner was a lovely chap, very friendly and laid back and committed to gradually improving yet further an already good site. Loved Skye and will be back. Dunvegan was a nice place with handy general store, bakery and couple of places to eat and better still only 10 minute walk

Many thanks to the site owner for a superb weekend. Beautiful view up Dunvegan Loch and view across to Glendale and Mackenzies Tables.
Ensure you engage first gear before getting to he entrance, I Didn't and had to do some fancy gear changing to get up the hill and into the entrance. Not difficult if you approach properly.
The owner is very friendly, helpful an the most laid back site owner I have met.
Dunvegan village offers small but well stocked shops, a lovely bakery, cake shop and a numbe of places to eat. Well worth a visit.
As a bonus I am assured the cursed midge does not visit the site very often.

Best campsite on our tour of Scotland.
Wonderful lochside location, very welcoming owner who allowed us to pitch where we wanted and in the direction that we wanted. Where else could we look out the window and watch seals bobbing around within a few metres of the van and herons fishing for their supper.
The toilet facilities etc were immaculate and there were plenty of electric hookups and hard standing, but equally lots of grassy areas for tents.
Be warned though if you have a caravan or large van that the approach to this site is at the top of a very short sharp hill with a left hand bend, the site entrance is on the right; if you know its coming then you will be fine.
The village is a ten minute walk away, with a general store, post office, a couple of hotels, petrol station, fishing come camping shop, a bakery and Janns cake shop (we found 1 cake was a cake to share).
Dunvegan castle is about a 25 minute walk from the site, worth a visit. You can also go seal watching from the castle quay where there is a small shop that sells coffee, biscuits, chocolates and tourist tat, and has a lovely picnic area with loch views.
Another good trip out is to the Waternish Peninsula, stunning views, plenty of art and craft galleries and good walks.
Wish we could have stayed longer, much longer

There was only one campsite rule: Enjoy yourself
The positioning is amazing with fantastic views down the loch and hills around. The pitches are terraced and level, although the far end of the site is more exposed. All of the facilities are good, including the showers, although the door and shower curtain layout made the changing area somewhat cramped. My only grumble was that it seemed a strange idea to mount the shaving sockets in the shower room where the mirrors mist up and not in the toilet and wash basin area.
The owner is friendly and welcoming and seemed to run an old man’s club in the reception most nights for those that wanted to sit around and chat! Dunvegan, although small, has several shops (including ‘The Fag’ash Stores!) a hotel, a grocer, a garage and most importantly a bakery too.
Whilst here we visited the Castle, the coral beaches, the distillery at Talikser, ate the oysters (also from Talisker), walked over Waterstein Head and saw the sea eagles.
We enjoyed ourselves.

We have camped all over Scotland and several times in this campsite, this is one of our favourites.
The big advantage is the owners are very friendly indeed, very helpful for advice, and run a very good set up.
Being Skye, you need a well sheltered site due to the high winds and gales that often come in, and this site is the best we went to for that, as there are sheltered pitches behind the farmhouse which is in the middle of the site and shelters from winds on the loch side, and raised banks on the opposite side which shelter from the South Westerly winds that come over Macleod's Tables. There is also a portable cabin as a shelter you can use if your tent failed.
The facilities are good, nice hot showers, a spin dryer, a washing machine. However don't bother using the dryer, it eats money & is very hungry, you will spend a fortune. Far better hang out your washing on the lines available outside.
This is a great location too as it is just in Dunvegan itself, so there is a post office, grocery store, petrol station etc just within walking distance, and Dunvegan Castle is just down the road. A very good base to camp from if you want to then drive around Skye and explore or do walks.
