 I stayed at Kinloch last night and, unfortunately, this has been the most disappointing and most expensive stop on my tour.
The site is extremely exposed, with virtually no shelter from the constant wind. Obviously, the weather isn’t the campsite’s fault, but it does highlight an important point: when the weather is wet, windy and grey, there really isn’t much else here to justify the premium price.
The facilities are modern in appearance, but essentially industrial modular units and very basic in terms of what is actually provided. There are just three showers and six toilets for men, along with three washing sinks. There’s a washing machine and dryer, four washing-up sinks, and that’s about it. (It was half full last night with around 25 vans plus tents on site) There is no shop, no recreation space, no proper drying facilities for tent users, and the facilities are not heated.
The pitches themselves are small and tightly packed together, and none are serviced. There are a few standpipes and grey-water disposal points dotted around the site, but again, these are basic facilities rather than what I would expect from a premium-priced campsite. My pitch was littered with cigarette butt's from a previous camper.
Ultimately, it feels like you are paying a premium largely for the location and the view. Of course, the campsite has no control over the weather or the scenery, but when conditions are poor, as they have been during my stay, there is very little else to compensate for it.
For the price being charged, I would expect considerably more in terms of facilities, comfort and space. This is the most expensive stop on our tour, yet by some margin it offers the least in terms of what I would consider premium campsite facilities.
Unfortunately, given the cost versus what is actually provided, I wouldn’t make the effort to stay here again.

A wonderfully situated camp site however I feel they have crammed too many pitches onto the area.
The views from all the pitches are great.
The facilities are adequate at best, with tiny showers that have fluctuating temperature. Try and get the shower which is in the toilet block rather than the shower bit. This one is much larger and seems to stay on longer than the others. (Mrs R reported the same for the ladies).
Easy walk into the village and we walked to Dunvegan castle which was about 11/2 mile. This would have been a very pleasant walk before the forestry operations but still much nicer than on the road.
We paid £32. 50 / night without EHU which is robbery IMO.
There is a food cabin on site but cannot comment otherwise as didn't use it.

Stayed here for 4 nights as part of my Scottish tour.
Very scenic route from the previous site in Poolewe via A87 towards the north of Isle of Skye before turning into the A850 and headed west to the campsite.
Be warned to allow plenty of driving time as the traffic could be very slow! Also it would be advisable to fill the vehicle up with fuel before entering the Isle of Skye as fuel stations were far and between.
This independent site was pleasant with friendly and helpful staff and the facilities were very clean and checked regularly by the staff.
The generous pitch I had which was No. 16 had a stunning view of the loch. However, it was close to the Reception which could be noisy for some.
There was a food truck on site, however, opening times were driven by weather conditions. When it did open eventually on Day 3 of my stay, it offered the usual menu from burger vans and was un-inspiring. A portion of chips in a burger box was 5. 00 GBP and did not look that appetising so I gave it a miss.
The site was popular with EU campers, and also popular with tents.
The shop did not sell much except for preparations to deter midges.
All in all, it was a pleasant campsite and I had a good stay and would recommend this campsite for its stunning views and good facilities.

The location of this site is stunning and all pitches have a view, some right in the water front. The check in was difficult due to 3 vans in front of us waiting for 2. 30pm opening, all 3 hadn't a booking so took ages. If we'd known the paperwork for our booking was outside before 2. 30 and we could have pitched up, you should really let bookings know this on the email confirmation. 2. 30pm was really busy every day at reception.
The toilet block is cold because all the doors are pinned open, that's no fair on your visitors. The water wasn't warm either. Older shower block which is OK if kept nice. 20p for hairdryer. Outdoor washing up sinks.
Pitches are sloping and ours was difficult to correct with levelling blocks, could do with some gravel maintenance all round the site.
There was an awful smell from the toilet waste disposal area on the front of the loch.
Seals were in the distance. Seabirds on the water. Short walk into Dunvegan with local shops and cafes as well as the oldest bakery on skye which had bread, pies and cakes. This is via the road you drove in on, so some care is needed for the first part. Road at entrance is on a hill and bend. Walked to the Duirinish stone, walked via the A850 then up past the churches and returned same way and back through village. Drove to Dunvegan castle as carpark is large. Dog friendly gardens. We shopped at the alpaca shop near the community cafe as the shop was dog friendly, the cafe isn't. The 2 restaurants, Misty and Blas are both dog friendly.
Site was used by most as a night stopover so daytime was quiet. On the 1st evening there was some commotion further down the site at 10pm, then at 1030pm a van moved up near us which played music until midnight, this should have been addressed as it would be audible from the warden vans. Apart from that it was quiet at our end, but some other areas were much busier.
Just expected more from this site and we were disappointed. Quite expensive even for skye at £42 a night, should be better.

To start off with, let's just address the few unfair reviews I myself read about this site before booking - YES, the shower block feels cold (you're in Skye and it's normal) so don't go expecting underfloor heating once you're finished. YES - there is sometimes a slight unpleasant smell coming from the grey water disposal points (no can of Febreeze is going to help there).
BEYOND THAT, this site was great, the lads in the reception were super nice and approachable, promptly directing me to where myself and a friend on his way up could pitch so he didn't have to faff about checking in upon arrival. The pitches WEREN'T fully level and some had a couple of lumps and bumps knocking around here and there but nothing mega. The EHU worked fine and didn't cut out on me whilst using the heater, phone charger and electric sheet for the airbed which has sometimes cut out on me in other sites in the past. Parking is fine, amenities block is fine although we didn't use the washer or dryer on-site. We didn't try the Wi-Fi either as our mobile signal was spot on throughout the visit.
There's a burger van on the site between 5pm-7pm most nights which is a welcome sight when you just can't be bothered to cook yourself haha. The location is beautiful on the loch front, I had other sites in mind first but after seeing this view I definitely choose the right site for what I wanted - VIEWS.
The site was sometimes super full and then other nights looked like a ghost town (must be from folks doing the NC500) but even when full, plenty of smiles to be seen and friendly vibes all around.
If I was ever up in Skye again (not for a while since it was almost a TEN HOUR drive for me) - I would more than happily stay here again and recommend it to anybody on the fence about booking.
Thanks Kinloch Campsite for the great stay - you far outshone what I expected.

This is a lovely part of Skye. The site is in a beautiful location on the edge of the Loch and popular with canoeists etc.
The facilities are good and I thought they wouldn’t be sufficient for the size of the site but tbh we never had to wait, but you may have to pick your time.
The hot water in my shower was a bit variable. We didn’t see anyone at reception while we were there as we arrived late but detailed information was left for us to find our pitch and all other details for the site.
Nice walk to castle and in to Dunvegan that has lots of cafes, restaurants etc.
The pitches a good size and level.

This site is in a beautiful location on the edge of the Loch, however it is quite exposed in windy weather.
The pitches are well spaced, but long electric cables are needed for some as the electric points are shared and ours was quite far away!
The facilities are plentiful with lots of hot water for showers. My only critisim is that the outer door is left open and the wind whips in making the whole block really cold! Maybe an auto-closing door could be installed and some heating?
There is nothing for the kids to do and not really any open grassy areas for playing. We couldn't figure out how to access the Loch shore although it appeared some families scaled the fence to get down there!

First visit for 4 years and first time with my caravan. Great location and close to local amenities, try the old schoolhouse for excellent food and service. Site busy but amenities are excellent with plenty of showers etc.
Weather was atrocious with gales and heavy rain but hard standings drain well so not an issue.
Staff very helpful, not on site when I arrived but all info including my pitch location, site rules and a map of site left at site office for my arrival.
A small criticism is lack of grey water disposal points for caravans, the only one available appeared to be the motorhome drive over drain which is virtually on the site exist which was an exhausting 200 mt walk from the far end of the site where I was located.
Finally take care if arriving by caravan, I wouldn’t advise taking the narrow road from the village. It’s narrow with tight bends, I’ve seen a motorhome tip of the edge into the ditch twice in the past. Take the long route, check it out on google earth.

The camp is a great base to use for days out.
Ross and Will take good care of you and have a good knowledge of the island.
The camp itself is in a picturesque location with the village close by.
Amenities are clean and tidy.
Would highly recommend this campsite.

Excellent site with great facilities.
Would suggest clearer indication on where to find drinking water and where to get rid of grey water actually on the site rather than the map. Ended up pointing more and more people in the right direction so I was not alone in being unsure at first.

Great site, well run with good facilities. Pitch big enough for our campervan, electric hook up great, WiFi not brilliant but put your phone down for a few days and look up.
Dunvegan nearby with decent local store and places to eat. Can't just get a beer at Dunvegan pub, got to book for dinner so didn't get get our business.
OS maps show paths that haven't been trod for a long, long time but trust yourself and get out there.
Lots of vans on site only stopover for a night, so new neighbours every afternoon.
Nice place and we didn't see it in the best weather.

A beautiful, peaceful location with views over the loch and beyond. This is actually a really big site but didn’t feel like it when we were there.
I phoned to book and they directed me to book through the website which was easy to do & checking in on arrival was very efficient. The facilities were a little dated but always clean and we never queued for a shower despite the site being full.
I was also very pleased to see a proper, decent hairdryer in the ladies. It cost 20p but was a far cry from the pathetic hairdryers you find in most places. My only complaint would be that the showers are push button and only last 7 seconds a push. However, they were good and hot.
Dunvegan has several shops, bakeries etc and, in high season, plenty of restaurants too.
There’s a fish and chip van at the entrance to the site which we made use of.
We visited Dunvegan castle and enjoyed that. We also drove down to the Fairy Pools (about 45 minutes) but we were quite disappointed and we wished we hadn’t gone because we were another two sets of feet trampling this beautiful spot into a mud bath. If you want peace and quiet it isn’t the place to go.
Would definitely recommend this site

Stayed here for one night whilst doing an extended NC500.
Booked for 2 van party and were given adjacent pitches.
Stunning view over the loch.
Friendly reception.
Large flat pitches (hardstanding booked).
Needed all of our 25m hook-up lead!
Facilities were good and clean.

The campsite is well situated by the sea and well organised. The facilities were all clean and in good order. It was quiet despite the number of units staying there.
We have only two negative remarks to make of which one, quite minor, is that there is no control over temperature or flow of the showers and some last very few seconds after each push of the button.
The more major drawback for us was the size of the pitches. We felt quite packed in and there is very little free green space for children to run around in.
