 We were disappointed with this site. We arrived on a damp day, and of course it has not been a brilliant summer, however the pitches were in poor condition, and I don't think it was just the weathers fault! Our pitch had large holes in the ground, it rendered over half of our awning unusable. It looks like no money is invested on upkeep of the site itself, which is a shame as it isn't cheap to stay here.
First week was lovely and sunny, however during our second week we did have some rain. Our awning didn't leak, however it flooded, the water was just coming up from the holes in the ground! We have never been to a site like this. We arrived to long grass - it looked like it had not been cut for quite some time. It certainly wasn't cut during our 2 weeks there!
General consensus of 'neighbours' on the site was that money was not being spent on general upkeep of the site. There is a dishwashing room - bare wires near the ceiling! Everywhere had a distinct DIY look about it.
Showers were the annoying push button type which stayed on only for a few seconds, so you have to keep pressing the button continuously.
The owner lives next door and is having a huge extension built to his house, it didn't make for a peaceful holiday with all the hammering and banging that went on throughout the day!Maybe next year they will spend some money on improving the pitches! Value for money? No.

Our third visit to this lovely site. Keep coming back because owners are helpful and friendly but unobtrusive. Fields are flat, plenty of space, never seems crowded even when full. Ladies washing/showers excellent (my husband hopes men's might be enlarged soon) and loads of hot water for these and the washing -up. Laundry and baby room. Children seem to love to congregate and play in the play area. Nice and quiet, with polite notices asking everyone to be quiet later at night (family field has an 8p.M. Request for quiet). Shop big enough for basic needs and great for kiting enthusiasts. Local shopping not great, but little price to pay for the peace and beauty of the Gower.
Local beach (Mewslade) can be a bit of a trek with your beach kit, but can be much shortened if you drive just down the road to next hamlet where there is a lovely honesty box car park and a shorter walk to this beautiful beach.
Good grub at the hotel at Rhossili with stunning views of the beach and Worms Head. So many lovely views and beaches on the Gower it's hard to choose!

Stayed here the only warm and dry weekend in June. It was our first camping trip and we were very pleased by the facilities
Toilets, showers, washing up areas were clean, no token or payment required, showers were push button operated.
Tents were well spaced around large level field with huge open area in the middle. Kids loved this. Noise was not a major problem. Rowdy group were reminded by fellow camper of the time around 11pm and it settled very quickly
Walk to beach is more than 20 mins if kids are with you and buggys would struggle, did see a few though.
Once there well worth it. Mewslade beach is sandy and shallow.
Quite isolated but shop has everything you need.
Will revisit soon, as it is a very quiet and tranquil site without clubhouse.
Might try a site nearer the beach next.

I stayed here in June with a large party -- four large tents, two small, one camper van (with electric hook-up), 19 people in total. They were very helpful and friendly in finding us space all together in a corner, and allowed us to go in the dog-free area even though we had two dogs (which fortunately behaved well). It was good having so much space, and being on grass rather than gravel or concrete.
My only small complaint is that the men's shower cubicle I was in had two sticking plasters in the drain -- obviously it hadn't been cleaned that day! It's a bit of a hike to the showers, but I'd rather that than have extra shower blocks and more paved roads.
We all loved the shop -- what an amazing selection of stuff!
All things considered, we loved this site.

We stayed at this campsite recently and found they had excellent facilities which were always kept clean. The pitches were very large for our two man tents. Unfortunately we were not made aware that when we took our cars out for the day someone would be camping on our 'park space' when we returned. Refunds were refused and we just had to make do with some free ice cream. Seems they saw the space and gave it away regardless of the fact they had seen us there the day before with our two booked pitches. But despite that the campsite was good, and the views were lovely with plenty of space on site to play frisbee. Perhaps a minor downside that music isnt allowed at any time of day, but we coped!

Came here after late May Bank Holiday. It was £19.95 for the van and elec - didn't matter how many were in it.
Ladies showers and toilets fine - lack of space in mens - my son said all his clothes got wet as no hooks.
Shop quite strange - lots of gifts, papers, milk etc but no bread - I saw a few rolls, and no tea bags - so lots of presents but not many sustainables.
Walks good from site. Site fine - play area not up to much.
The walk to the beach is a long way down lots of zig zaggy paths - the walk back up is not for those with walking difficulties or many buggies etc. It really is a pain - beach gorgeous but you have to drive to the carpark and pay to park.
We only did that walk once and then went to Porth Eynon to have a look there - well there there is a campsite right next to the beach. Then we went to Llangennith and there's Hillend right next to the beach and I was told on the forum here that they only take tents but they do take motorhomes and campervans but there's no electricity. Again you are right next to the beach so next time we will be going somewhere else as I am not into traipsing miles with all the wetsuits etc.
Also it should be noted that there is no shop of any substance around this area - the nearest co-op is in Killay which is a good 20 mins drive away. Scurlage has a minimart place which is ok and there are small shops in the other villages. I was amazed at how isolated the Gower is - we are used to going to rural areas - we go to Cornwall every year but there are shops in St Just - a co-op even! If you know the Lleyn peninsula - well it is a lot more isolated than there. Not a lot to do if it's wet either - you would have to go to Swansea.
Having said alll that we will go back but to a campsite which is level with the beach!

We spent 3 nights over half term here returning after some years and had a wonderful time. The shop is much improved with coffee and tea available much needed for a wet morning aftera night in a tent I remember! The park has moved and although basic my children loved meeting up with friends they had met there. The showers and toilets were clean with plenty of hot water, the pitches were lovely with plenty of space and no one in front of you loads of space for the kids to play. My 16 year old and I walked to the beach from the site,( the bigger beaches are a drive away but not far and worth it) Lovely walk to a very small cove great for an early evening fire. Lovely owners. Counting the days til we can return.

We stayed here for the august bank holiday although fully booked it never felt over crowded. The womens showers and toilets were spotless,I have one minor complaint all the sinks are in cubicles, when it is busy in the mornings the cubicles are full and there are no seperate sinks to wash your hands so take some wet wipes with you.
The shop is well stocked and the staff are very nice. The walk down to Mewslade bay took us about 20 minutes the only part which could be difficult for some was actually getting onto the beach but well worth it. The beaches on the Gower are all very clean and beautiful we especially liked Threecliffs bay.

This was our second trip to this site and very pleased yet again. We were on the stone circle field as last year. The facilities were great in the ladies showers and adequate for the gents my husband said - I think it is a lot easier to shower kids in the ladies rather than the gents as you have more space to get dressed etc in there. We were also there when the large group of teenagers were there but they were absolutely no problem and on a field away from everyone else.
The only problem I had with other campers were people letting their dogs roam freely around the camping field when they should all be on leads. My little one is terrified of dogs and having an alsation come visiting while eating our dinner outside was not ideal. The owners did repeatedly ask people to put dogs on leads but some people are just ignorant.
Gower is just lovely, we loved Mewslade and went on a fabulous boat ride with Gower Boat Trips from Port Eynon. We are planning to return again next year!

We spent a weekend here on our way to another site, we couldn't have been happier with the pleasant chap (and I think his son) in reception, the chap took us to our pitch, guided us in and smiled the whole time. faultless.
The staff are friendly, happy and nothings too much bother for them.
There is a tight set of lanes to the site but if you have some common sense they will not cause you any problems.
Will recommend this site for sure.

We have just returned from our fifth summer trip to Pitton Cross and will return there next year. This is a good site in a delightful area with level pitches and charming and helpful owners. The pitches are a good size (we have an Aztec Cantera 12 + a gazebo, trailer and toilet tent). There are electric hook-ups on some pitches and tents are pitched around the edge of the fields leaving ample play space in the middle.
There is an on site shop which is reasonable. The site is divided into different fields including a family with no dogs field. Regarding noise and disruption, the family field is supposed to be quiet from 8pm which I read as meaning the games stop in the middle and people quieten down rather than silence. Tents are made of fabric and noise drifts from other fields but it is gentle people noise NOT radio / music. Other people's music and radio noise is not tolerated which is bliss.
We have been when there are groups with girls doing their hair etc but it is easy to avoid them by going at a different time to the toilet block. They are in an organised group and seem to work to a timetable. They are also in the field furthest away and we have not experienced any problems from them. In conclusion, we have been very happy at this site and most importantly, the owners keep it running smoothly.

Nice site. Variety of different pitches available all flat and well set out. Showers / washing up facilities are all clean and tidy - although a bit busy at peak times - only to be expected.
Small shop on site - great for basics. Need to take a good supply of food & drinks as there are no major shops nearby.
Friendly staff and nice atmosphere on the site.
Nice coastal walks can be access from the site. Worms Head and Rhossili Beach a short drive away.
Would definitely go back again.

The owners here took us in when we had had a disastrous visit to another local site, and were very welcoming and helpful.
This is a basic but more than adequate site with level pitches and a number of different fields to suit your requirements.
All facilities were clean and tidy and well kept.
We will definitely visit again.

We have just returned from a four night stay at this site and felt I had to write a review.
The site is very safe for young children as we have two aged 9 and 6 and we felt we could allow them to walk to the toilet without us and use the park without supervision. BUT the park is not really suitable for children over the age of 5 as it only consists of two 'grown up' swings, a boat that does nothing, a little green bouncy thing (for babies) and one baby swing - therefore our daughters were 'bored' and when you've got bored children you've got irate mums and dads.
This though was the only downside to Pitton Cross because it is a lovely peaceful site - plenty of wildlife - lovely long walks - beautiful beaches - shop that supplies daily things (even though it is a bit more expensive) - the showers were both hot, powerful and free and we would return without the children one day but not in the near future.

A wonderful campsite situated on the end of the Gower peninsular.
Location can mean you are a little exposed to the wind, so make sure you are well pegged down.
Owners are very friendly, very helpful and are quite laid back. Shop on site selling all the essentials at reasonable prices, also doubles as a kiting centre.
Site is laid out in smaller fields so never seems that big. Lovely walks accessed directly off the site, so leave the car parked up. Dog walk on site. Loads of room for the kids to play.
Toilet blocks a little dated, but are kept spotlessly clean at all times. The site was full at the time of our visit and the facilities coped admirably.
