Following on from the last review, also written by me, this is now our second visit to the site. It has now become one of our favourite naturist campsites.
I am pleased to say that it is still as welcoming and really friendly. The facilities again spotless. We aimed for here as we are coming to the end of a 10 week European tour, hoping that we would find everything 'as it was' and that is certainly the case.
The pitches are actually defined, unlike I mentioned in my last review (which was done a while after our visit) They are spacious, grass pitches, and levelling would be required on most of them.
EHU is available. The bar, is a nice place to socialise, with an information post highlighting local attractions. There is a 'self service' herb garden where you are welcome to get your fresh herbs, a nice touch.
Plus a reading room and small library. A swimming pool, with children's pool attached. The views on a clear day are still as stunning.
We visited over the weekend hoping that we might catch another soiree, we were in luck and another fabulous evening was had.
The soiree's are so friendly, they are caring and sharing type evenings where people socialise and mingle. Language barriers are broken down really quickly.
We were introduced to some of the very local cheeses, the goats cheese from 2 km or so away was the best we have ever tasted.
The food was followed by much merriment and dancing.
Everyone on site made a real effort to include us and that never felt forced in any way.
Our review is a little late as we visited in 2023. But we really enjoyed our stay here. It was a very friendly environment with good clean facilities and great views, make that amazing views!
A couple of well placed benches were a great place to sit for an early morning coffee and take in those views.
There was an information board that showed the identity of the extinct volcanoes in the distance.
All that could be heard was the bells of cattle (or goats) down the forested hillside that drops away from plateau on which the site is situated. Overnight, silence, perfect.
The pitches were non-defined but had EHU and when directed where to park, space was ample between units. The bar was lovely and the communal area around the bar area was excellent.
Fresh bread was available to order daily and there was a small shop with the basics. The swimming pool was quiet, but well kept. We were invited to a social soiree in a large room.
It was a self-cooking BBQ evening with music and laughter throughout the evening and a great chance to socialize with the members and guests. There are some lovely walks with stunning views, all within the grounds of the site.
It is a naturist club, so a lot of the guests are in fact members. It is often said that naturist club sites can feel a bit 'clicky' and as UK ex-club members ourselves, sadly we understand how that might be the case at some sites. But, we never once felt that at this site.
Our only regret was that we did not have a car with us on this occasion, the area around the site is beautiful. Set in the Massif Central region of France with some really interesting places to visit within an hour or so drive.
Puy de Dome is visible from the site, but was much too far for us to cycle to. The drive eastwards for us, away from the site was equally as spectacular.
We will certainly aim to visit this site again but have a car on tow, to enjoy the local area more.
