 Great little campsite in a stunning location.
We are new to caravanning and Mac the owner of the site couldn’t have been more helpful.
He was so friendly and assisted us setting everything up on the van as we didn’t really know what we were doing.

Lovely site, scenic location.
Owners very friendly and helpful, showers and toilets were surprisingly good.
Lovely pub just next door.
Pitches very level and all handstanding.

Great location for hiking, we visited the B29 Crash site and had a good walk and nice pint on the way back in the Bulls Head.
Owner of the site is a great bloke and super helpful. Will visit again.

A great little 10 pitch site.
Basic amenities, 2 toilets and one shower(but I used my own facilities)
16amp Ehu, own water, elec and waste point.
Ideally located to attend a function, and to visit the town of Glossop, 5 minute drive/taxi, with plenty of shops and pubs.

We were greeted by the wardens who gave us a warm and friendly welcome. We were shown the facilities around the site and helped onto our pitch - a very generous sized, level, fully serviced pitch with room to park your car next to your caravan.
Pitches were divided by high shrubs providing privacy. There were no views as such, but a field behind our pitch had sheep in it which could be seen and heard occasionally. Other reviews have mentioned the road noise but this wasn’t an issue for us. Most sites are located next to a road so it is what it is.
There were 2 mixed sex toilets and one shower. We didn’t use the facilities as we have our own, but when we were shown them they looked clean and modern and the site is kept neat and tidy. Access is via an electric gate.
You are given the code or a fob (for a fee) once you’re on site. The entrance is a very sharp left turn (if you’re coming from Glossop) which may cause problems for some larger units if not taken wide enough.
Although the road noise wasn’t an issue, it was very busy and a bit of a hazard if you decide to walk along it. We turned around after a few minutes walk as we deemed it too dangerous. However, there is a public footpath from the restaurant car park that runs behind the site and is a nice walk into Hadfield where there are various shops and cafes.
The only issue we had was with the drainage. We only have a small caravan and the outlet pipe for the grey waste is lower than the drain where the water runs into, which was about 10 inches off the floor, so water backed up into the sinks in the caravan. We tried propping the outlet pipe up but it still wasn’t high enough and we had to keep shaking the pipe to drain the water. However, we do plan on returning and will just bring the waste master next time.
All in all, a nice new local site for us which we look forward to visiting again soon.

Not sure about these other reviews saying rubbish is everywhere… it was absolutely fine. It’s very simple site - two toilets and only one shower. We were in a hard standing with electric hookup.
It’s right next sure to Windy Harbour Farm Pub/Restaurant and is a perfect base for a walking trip and close to the town centre (taxi journey is literally five mins). Be warned - This is a bare bones caravan/campervan site, but that’s all we needed. We have everything we need in the van, and we were out most of the day.
A few reviews are moaning about the road - most UK campsites are by/close to a road? It was no issue for us, perhaps we are just used to it as we camp a lot.
What I will say it that it’s quite expensive for what it is. We are Camping and Caravan Club members, and this was the same price as fully kitted out member/certified campsites that offer much more.

We were visiting Glossop for a family party, the location is ideal with a shortish walk into town, get a taxi back.
Friendly greeting on arrival, fabulous views, although the facilities aren’t super the showers are hot and clean. Convenient for pub next door.
We are thinking of returning around Christmas doing so we were shown around the Shepherd huts, luxury!

We were booked in with our caravan for 3 nights but due to high winds we decided to leave the caravan at home.
We contacted Windy Harbour and explained the situation and Mac suggested one of the Shepherd huts which was pet friendly.
Mac and his wife Hazel went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed on arrival. He even warmed the hot tub for us.
There was a great selection of goodies for us and the hut was well equipped. We also had a family meal for my sisters birthday in the restaurant. The staff could not do enough for us.
The only down side for the hut was lack of storage and hanging space for clothes.
The Food in the Restaurant was ok I had roast beef and some of it was a bit tough.
I don't like to say anything bad about Windy harbour as the staff were brilliant.

Campsite located in Glossop on the entrance to the beautiful peak district so not far from Castleton where all the caves can be found.
Excellent location for walking treks. Not far from Manchester so easy access from motorways. Electrical hook up available for caravans.
Must book in advance and the staff were very friendly and happy to help. Food and Bar available in the hotel but there are also many food establishments in Glossop town centre.

We chose here to be within 6 miles of my brothers 60th party.
Good Points:
£18 a night for a fully serviced, stable 16amp pitch.
Portacabin toilets X2 and shower / toilet room were spotless well heated and loads of hot water.
The owners of the site and hotel were welcoming and friendly. Excellent beer £2. 90 a pint and homemade food. Try their roasts or the steak and kidney puddings.
Longdendale trail about two miles away.
Glossop 1 mile with plenty going on.
Not so good :
Windy - lives up to it's name.
Quite a few units are very shabby and occupied by 'away from home workers'.
Very small pitches by today's standard.
Ground is potholed and muddy with large puddles.
Chemical waste point is fine except for the grassy mud approach.
A lot of junk is lying about.
Adjacent road is noisy but in fairness didn't bug us.
Poor TV reception. Aim SW vertical and high as possible.
No space to sit outside caravan.
No dog walk.
We will return but for family convenience not for a holiday.
