What's not to like? There's no electric hookups, there's one tap, there's a small facilities block (including cold water pan wash area) there's sparse mobile phone connection,
There's probably no TV reception and there's peace and quiet in abundance.
Val and Gary have the best site in the world and we'll definitely be back.
I've put N/A for child friendliness but the presence of a multitude of animals, a beck running through the site and a rope swing over it probably means it would score pretty highly!

We have visited Low Farm several times and always thoroughly enjoy it. It ticks all the boxes for us; the owners are lovely, the location is fantastic; the facilities are all we need. I particularly like the fact there are no electric hook ups and its a grass field site as far as I am concerned EHU and tons of gravel are an unnecessary expense for the site owner.
There are so many possibilities from the site; walking or cycling into Dalby Forest; Scarborough and Whitby are pretty close for seaside trips, castle Howard is only half an hour away, York probably a bit further. But its a great site to go back to and chill out listening to the animals, birds and the stream
Not been in the pubs for a while but the Fish and Chip shop in Thornton le Dale is excellent, orders can be place over the phone and its a nice walk by the stream to get them. I'm not sure if they still offer the home made pizza and cheesecake from the farm house at the week end, but probably mainly during better weather.
We had a really great stay even if the weather was uncharacteristically rubbish. I'm sure we'll visit again next time we go up the East side of the country.
If I had one request, making emptying grey waste a bit easier would be good.

Great little site on a farm,
The owners are very welcoming and helpful.
The toilets looked new and where very clean.
It's a good base for exploring the north Yorkshire country side

God's Country. North Yorkshire. Yes it is, and an angel popped this campsite into the farming hamlet of Ellerburn, near Thornton-le-Dale and a stones throw from fabulous walks into Dalby Forest.
Never have I seen such clean & luxurious toilets & showers on a campsite. In fact quite a few hotels could take a leaf out of Low Farm campsite's book.
OK, so it's simple. There's no electric and no hard standing, but it is ideally situated, peaceful and friendly, a paradise for children (young and aged 45!). The rope swing across the stream was "the best bit of the holiday, " according to my 9 year old!
The hosts are lovely people, proper Yorkshire folk and grand to chat to, with a wealth of local knowledge, but equally happy to leave you alone to enjoy this beautiful place.
(It is just next to a farm though, so if you live in a town with triple glazed windows, please remember you are now in the countryside and nature has no mute button. Also there are some simple rules to make it a safe and happy environment for people of all ages. Please follow them. )

Had a fantastic stay midweek, walked down to the village show from the site.
We were welcomed by the owners and show where to pitch.
They were very helpful and informative.
A lovely quiet site with the beautiful sound of the stream.
Toilets and showers very clean.

I stayed at low farm for 2 nights with my dog lucie the cockerpoo.
When we arrived we were met by a very pleasant lady who was full of information about places walk and things to see, also recommended a nice pub called the buck that did good food and had a large beer garden at the back dog friendly.
The showers and the toilet block were well maintained and clean. A good elsan point was at the front of the toilet block with a good length of hose pipe to rinse your toilet.
Also this farm has fresh eggs daily.
Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to enjoy the countryside to give this place a go you won't be disappointed good rates and the staff that will go the extra mile for you. Forgot to mention homemade ice cream is available at the camp shop.

Absolutely loved it, quiet, peaceful with beautiful surroundings.
Lovely walk by the river into the village too.
Could probably do with more toilet facilities when busy but we have our own so it wasn't a problem.
Would go again.

We had a good stay at low farm there's an excellent walk into dalby forest and a short 15 minute walk along the stream into the village.
Toilets are also clean and looked new although only 1 shower.
Site is well laid out and very natural which we like and we will definitely be returning.

This is a beautiful, rural site only a short drive from the village of Thornton le Dale.
Peace and quiet, good clean facilities, WC for disabled as well as M and F shower, lovely hot water.
Friendly welcome.
I will be returning.
Excellent.

Peaceful campsite with a friendly welcome, in lovely surroundings just outside Dalby Forest.
Spotless loos, but only two each for M & F. One disabled loo, and only one shower, which can get busy when the site is fuller.
Food at the New Inn in Thornton le Dale is highly recommended.
Just two gripes:
The shower requires additional payment. This always seems stingy to me. I’d rather pay £1 more a night and have a ‘free’ shower.
The ‘washing up facilities’ consist of a single outside sink with no shelter and no hot water. Not really good enough.
