Fairly well into our 6 week tour of Spain, this site defied any reasonable expectation of a camping site that charges for entry. Note the other reviews were in winter. But the Tarpaulin and plastic Mausoleum, giving the best impression it could without sniggering, of being a camp site with people actually 'on holiday' was very much in evidence. This was by far and away the most unwelcoming camp site we encountered in Spain, as such my wife and daughter wanted to leave within minutes of arrival. But we had paid. 47 Euros. If memory serves, no refund 'meester', okay we have been here five minutes. We will take the knock, call it 25 euros we will leave now. No refund 'meester'. With no option we were on lock down, it was mid evening, let us get through till morning and scarper early. Threatening does not even begin to describe this site. Also the cramming of the site and the plastic. I mean plastic. And the chip frying. The open fires. The dreaded tarpaulins. Constant sweeping and clouds of dust. Why? Yep fires have wiped out camp sites in Spain, but do we learn from our mistakes? If you want to know what it is like to be an Alien come to this site.
If you love fish, ; you'll love this site! Everyone is packed on it like sardines!
Pitches are very tight and motor-homes over 7. 5m will find it difficult to park on their pitch. The south west side of the site is surrounded by 15 foot fence. Its still debatable as to whether this was to keep the locals out, alternatively to keep the travelers in?
The toilets/ showers were very good and are kept clean. The site itself is a bit unkempt and looks a bit like a shanty town of old. With the ASCI card we paid €19 which was for 2 persons, motor-home, inclusive of electric.
The only really plus point of this site is the location as its really close to the town and the beach.
The sand is that black, grey type, not really inviting. Most site visitors were German, French, Scandinavian who in many cases had made their pitches into semi permanent structures - mind boggling at times.
Too expensive for what it was, will stay somewhere else the next time I am in the area.
Camping Torre Del Mar is situated at the end of the town, at the Malaga end.
You need to find the Blue and White painted light house (Faro) and it is to the right of that.
You are greeted with a friendly reception staff, Fatima is lovely, and will help you in any way she can. She speaks very good English, and most of the other staff have some English.
I was here in the December of 2014, and the campsite was nearly full!
Various Nationalities are here, from Scandinavia and Europe
There are two shower blocks, and the one near to me was very clean, and modern, with lots of hot water.
There is laundry facilities also.
Depending on when you go will depend on the price. I was there for 4 weeks, and the rate was very good, you pay extra for electric, and this is obviously dependent on what you use.
Internet is free, but because of the amount of people there, is was some-what slow, though useable.
There is a very nice pool on site, but not open in December. It looks really nice though.
A small supermarket is also on site, and a Mexican Restaurant.
A really large Supermarket is just around the corner, and is very good!
A huge choice of Restaurants is available within 5 minutes’ walk.
Torre Del Mar is a sleepy little town, but very nice.
Malaga is an easy drive, and so are the other large cities.
All-in-all, a pleasant stay, really close to the beach too !
