Fantastic site right next to an amazing white sandy beach.

Pitches are on a slight slope but caravan was easily levelled.

Facilities clean and modern but could do with more when site is busy. Owner friendly and helpful.

Cost reasonable.

Will certainly be back.

Nice low key site, right on the north of Barra - friendly owners,

Basic facilities but adds to the charm.

Beach at high tide is incredible, would be great for SUP and kite surfing as shallow a long way out

Great location with sandy beach a stone's throw away.

Facilities let location down. Whilst toilet block with shower is new, only 1 person has access to both.

For size of site really needs more facilities, or separation of toilet and shower facilities.

Site fairly uneven ground so chocks a necessity and despite there not being great number of pitches being used, we were manoeuvred into a pitch with a view of the bins !

Only there for 1 night though.

Great little site tucked away on the North of the Island.

It has an amazing white Sandy beach which is great for swimming, paddle boarding and dog walking!

Facilities are limited but clean and well kept.

What an absolutely Amazing location on the beautiful Isle of Barra.

Croft 2 is a small campsite which is relatively secluded from the elements compared to our last visit to the Borve site near to castlebay.

The campsite is owned and maintained by Angus with the assistance of his so, who we found to be very engaging and helpful.

The site is small and is broken up into 3 sections. When we arrived it was busy and we were met by Angus who offered us a pitch outside the main area near to his garage. All of the pitches are uneven and will require some manoeuvring to achieve a comfortable position.

The site is idyllic and is about 50 meters from white sands and a fairly sheltered part of sea. We were able to use our paddle boards which was an amazing experience beside the seals and porpoises(Angus has about 4/5 boards which he hires out to guests if you fancy it. )

We had no phone signal or WiFi which was a good detox from social media. Nearest 4G spot, my kids tell me was a short walk up to the wind turbine which you can see from the site.

The facilities at the site are very limited. Do not expect luxury. There is one block with 1 toilet a shower 2 sinks and a washing machine. There is electric hook up and the chemical waste is a toilet which has been dung into the ground in the middle of the campsite (which does not flush. )

We filled our amazing week in the water, fishing off the rocks at the Turbine, touring the amazing coffee shops a walk up Heavil and dinner at the lovey Kisimul restaurant in castlebay.

If you want to experience beautiful Barra at its natural best then this site is perfect. You wonít find a Caravan Club site with 5 star faculties anywhere in the Outer Hebrides so be prepared and just enjoy the amazing Isle.

We arrived late, as thatís what time the ferry from Oban landed. Despite booking & paying a deposit. Site was full to bursting, we ended up off the main site on a area that sloped in 2 different ways, so blocks made it a little better, but still well off the level. Site had a lot of tents, & about a dozen MoHom/Caravans. There was 1 combined Shower/toilet. Queue was endless all evening, & same in the morning.

There was no respect for each otherís pitch space. Dogs, children running literally where they liked. We had a narrow 3ft strip of grass between us & a fence, kids (& an odd adult) walked down this strip, passed our door & looking in. Despite it being easier to go the opposite side of our Motorhome where there was a massive amount of space. Also there was noise till at least 11pm. Apart from collecting the fees, the Owner seemed to simply allow the site to run itís self.

Will add that the Scenery was stunning, with white beaches. But sadly the sites chaos on how Motorhomes were allowed to park any way they wished, some parking at 90 decrees so taking up multiple spaces. Plus the total lack of decent facilities for £24. It really removed all the shine for us. Especially as the following night, at another site, Itís a world apart at £25.

Weíll definitely not return.
