As has been said, this is a very basic site and you need to have all facilities available. The approach is tight but we have been to worse.
As naturists we like it because of it's proximity to Studland with it's nude beach and it means that we do not have to slog through the horrific traffic around Bournemouth. You take your choice we guess!
Lovely views, Swanage with all it's delights close by and friendly people - but then that's naturism for you!

If you are looking for a camp-site with all the bells and whistles then this is not the camp-site for you, however if you are looking for a peaceful and lovely get away form it all then look no further.
Knitson Farm is made up of three camping fields, the first you come upon being the largest and flattest, but be warned there seems to be a lot of seasonal pitches taking up the best spots. The second is a little further up is more hilly and the last being the smallest and furthest away is naturist, this is the one we headed for.
Approaching any of the camping fields is very tight so please follow the directions as shown on the Knitson Farm Website.
The only thing you will find on all the camping fields are a fresh water tap, an elsan point and a large industrial rubbish bin, and all the beautiful scenery you can take in.
The nearest shop to the farm is just down the road at another camp-site OK if you have forgotten anything and the pub is less then 1 mile away, however with Swanage only 2 miles away you could easily walk there using the numerous walks which start from the area, or alternately, why not use the Swanage steam train, which conveniently stops at Herston Halt less than half a mile away.
Knitson Farm is ideal for walkers, with the Purbeck Way walk being the backdrop to the site, you can walk to Corfe Castle in 1 hour or if you are feeling adventurous all the way to Studland beach 14 miles there and back.
I love this site and will be going back again in September.

Please note this site has no toilet or shower facilities.
Own sanitation is essential. It is essential that every unit has its own toilet and washing facilities, and foam or powder fire extinguisher.

As stated on their website, this is a low facility site. Own san essential, and they recommend bringing your own fire extinguisher. The site is down the end of a single track road. It's very narrow up to Herston camp site, then it's positively horrifying after that- about 300 yards of a narrow single track road, overhung with trees, and a slight bend. There is a ditch alongside, so any reversing mistakes, and you are doomed!
There are three fields, all unsupervised. We went into the first, and found it hard to find a pitch- about half of the field, the flatter portion being a permanent encampment of assorted caravans, plus extended awnings. The upper part is very steep- big blocks are needed up there for the few available pitches.
The second field is 100yards further down the lane- that was full too, and the last field had a sign saying it was the 'Naturists site'.
Pluses. It's overlooked by the Purbeck hills, with a well marked footpath directly opposite the first field, taking you up to the ridge. A 4 mile walk along it into Corfe Castle, and the steam train back is good.Near enough to Bournemouth (get the ferry), and all the Dorset attractions.
Minuses. Finding a pitch and the ghostly feeling when you are there midweek, out of the summer holidays, as you are surrounded by unoccupied caravans. The lady banging on your door at 08.00 for the £8 pitch fee.
