This site set in a beautiful valley which the Dutch owner has developed and planted with interesting trees over the past 20 years. There would be plenty of shade in summer but in December, camped in lower part of the site among lemon trees, we lost the sun over the hill at 3. 30pm. There are higher, sunnier terrraces up the sides of the hill and, tucked away at the end of the valley, a naturist area.
The owner and her staff are very welcoming and helpful. The reception, bar and shop buildings are most attractive, set around a cobbled coutyard. The wash rooms (only one open in winter) just have cold water to sinks and washing up; the good showers take a token bought at reception. With wi fi also charged as an extra and camping for a small van plus two costing over 20 euros a night this is one of the more expensive sites in the area (there are discounts for longer stays).
Salema village is about two kilometers further down the road and is a lovely place to visit with cafes, restaurants (good fresh fish), a shop and a nice beach. Sadly there is no footpath from the campsite to the village and the road is narrow and twisting and the traffic too fast for a relaxed walk down. We drove down to walk the dog on the beach. There is a good supermarket 10 minutes drive away at Budens.
