Wow, fab stay at this wonderful site. £10 a night for one adult in a campervan, no charge for dog
Facilities are limited to a water tap (it's a long walk from the pitches and pressure is very low so be aware), chemical disposal points, and three groups of portaloos spread around the campsite. They were extremely clean which was a pleasant surprise. Covid 19 measures were obvious and in place, lots of hand sanitiser around.
The site is beautiful, a large field surrounded by trees and fields - pitch whereever you like. Campfires are allowed, and the farmer comes around each evening with bags of logs for £3. 50. There are a few makeshift rope swings around the site for the kids to play.
You can access the South Downs Way directly from the campsite field, and there are miles and miles of walking in all directions - you will not get bored!
The pub in the village is approximately a two mile walk downhill along the farm track - it's a gentle hill so not too bad coming back - or you can walk a longer way up and along the South Downs Way. Pub was friendly and looked to do good food, although I didn't eat.
Be aware the lane to access the campsite field is long, and extremely bumpy with uneven flint surface - a bumpy ride, just go *very* very slowly.
Overall a fantastic back to basics site, which I will definitely be revisiting.

Another stay at this site and this time with a few friends to celebrate a birthday. Easily booked on the phone and check in was smooth and easy.
The site had a handful of units on and there were a few campfires going on but no noise was created by any group, or heard across the site at all.
As usual the farmer comes round in the evening selling logs and always enjoys a chat, a lovely guy all round.
Great walks and we did a circular walk through the forest taking in part of the nature reserve and we ended up at the Star and Garter in East Dean. A very well organised pub with a good range of drinks, however we did not eat so cannot comment on that. The site is then a 2 mile walk back along the quiet lane and farm road.
There is a small shepherds hut shop just before the farmhouse for essentials, bread, milk, egg, etc.
There were portaloos this time and these were kept clean with plenty of hand san and toilet roll.
Water is still an issue as it is down the lane a bit and the pressure is not that great, but we knew this anyway.
Road is still very bumpy, full of holes and loose stones, so be warned, anything too low might struggle.
A peaceful and relaxed weekend, with no hassles and I would return, just remember to bring you own facilities.

Beautiful campsite and friendly welcome from the owner. The entire experience ruined due to a group of lads very loudly partying until 05.30 am, despite repeated requests from other campers for them to zip it. Therefore, I only managed to grab about 1 hour's sleep.
Not sure I would visit again, as there seems to be little or no management of badly behaved campers.

We camp here often, love the freedom, walks in the woods, seeing deer. And sitting round an open fire under the stars.
Best bring own loo and paper.

Amazing space to go camping, was only a stone's throw away from the South downs trail which was great.
Some really lovely pubs within reasonable walking distance.
All in all a great campsite for those who want to go camping

Fantastic experience! Quiet, rural, proper camping. Friendly people who run it, easy check-in (although signposts could be more visible).
Plenty of space, lots of woods to explore. Kids loved the rope swings!
Thank you!

Great location hidden away from the every day grind.
Really friendly farmer on site who brings logs around between 5 and 6pm
Fires allowed and BBQ’s raised up.
Just up the road from us and will certainly be back.
Check it out by booking ahead, you won’t be disappointed.

I tried to book online but did not get a reply, so a quick phone call and I was all booked in.
You have to check in at the farmhouse at the bottom of the lane upon arrival and they mark you in and you pay your £5 per unit and £5 per adult.
The track up to the site is a mile long and is very bumpy and not suitable if you vehicle is pretty low. I crawled along it at about 5mph and I was still worried about my wheels and tyres.
At the end of the track it rises quite steeply as you enter the field, so a good boost of power is needed.
The field is just one massive open space surrounded by woodland on three side. You pick where you like and away you go. Pretty flat field and lots of options of placed to pitch.
There are no facilities at all except a bin, chemical disposal and a fresh water tap. The fresh water is back down the track a bit and it is a trickle, so will take a while to fill 5 litres.
Chemical disposal has not water to rinse your cassette, and the bins are not for recycling, just all waste in one.
You can have a fire here and the farmer comes and sells bags of logs in the afternoon / evening for £3. 50 per bag and you get a good quantity.
There are some magical views and walking in teh South Downs Way is in abundance, you can walk for hours on end and there are a couple of pubs within walking distance, however we did not venture to them.
There are lots of places locally to visit including Chichester which is a lovely place.
I would return, but will be completely stocked up with food, water and booze before I arrive.

What can I say. Been coming here for years; still think it's one of the best campsites in England, as long you don't mind no facilities.
And it's only an hour from our house. Perfect spot.
