Lovely rural campsite between Vannes and Nantes. Second stay here (previous visit was August 2017 when we stayed 2 nights) Facilities were spotless and environment well maintained and quiet.
Owners couldn’t have been more accommodating as we arrived late evening, after a long drive, without a reservation, and there were no pitches available. They very kindly let us park up our VW camper adjacent to one of the vacant chalets.
There was sufficient room to cook outside and we were permitted to use the chalet’s veranda with table and chairs.
Reception open until late which was so welcoming too. Very reasonably priced.
Merci bien Camping du Bois de Beaumard ! via mobile
What a find, blundered into this site after a day out in Pornic and being unable to find a site with vacancies.
Really nice site in a forest run by a charming young couple. I've only given them 10 for service because 12 is not available.
Multi nationality site, not many Brits there.
Facilities quite basic but clean and welcoming. Showers a small shop, bar and restaurant. Great for our grandchildren 5 and 4 who could pretty much go free range.
All sorts of animals wandering round the place and a nice playground with a trampoline which was a huge hit.
Will definitely go again, for a couple of day next time.
Peaceful, rural location, conveniently located and set up for out of season touring of southern Brittany, Loire Atlantique - and offering excellent value for money.
Pitches are clearly marked and grassy but have got a matting foundation so don’t get too muddy if it rains.
Sanitary facilities are spotless, spacious (at last a shower where your clothes don’t get wet) and well thought out eg heated towel rail
My husband and I have been camping for over thirty years and although we have stayed at some excellent sites, I have never before written a campsite revue, but this site inspired me to thoroughly recommend it to other campers, especially as English visitors seem to be missing out on a real gem!
The site is small, calm and peaceful, set in a wooded area with large spacious pitches, individually surrounded by hedges. The campsite is very French and has a lovely feel to it, with pot man ornaments, small gardens, chickens and guinea pigs, goats and an ornamental cage of unusual birds. The toilets and showers are spacious and well appointed with lots of hooks and shelves, but most importantly immaculately clean and well cared for.
The area has many places to visit with beautiful beaches half an hour away. We stayed for a week at the end of August and we found plenty to occupy ourselves.
A campsite of course is only ever as good as the people who run it and Samuel and Sandra are so welcoming, helpful but not intrusive and great fun. They were very sympathetic to my attempts at speaking French and my husband also appreciated the chance to speak the language. As it was near to the end of the busy season we enjoyed a drink at the small bar chatting to Samuel, who is quite a character! The only thing to add is to praise the quality of the 'Frites de Beaumard' which were delicious.
We booked this site on good reviews. It is not a bad site but not the greatest either.
Sardine village & noisy! It's set in lovely woodlands with chickens&rabbits but because you are so cramped into and area all you view is the ten in front. A very french site (French click) and you feel very singled out. Everyone walks round with a loo roll (non provided) this made it feel like a prisoner camp. We had booked to stay for a week, but first thing in morn we scoured for another site. By luck found one about 2-3mile away, and went to look/view it. We were on this site 12hrs. We had wrapped up and off in 24mins flat! We found a massive QUIET site, beautiful views, re pitched then our holiday finally started !
Good points:
Great for kids. Woods to run around in.
Clean
Nice area
Free wifi
BBQs /eating area( if you like cooking/eating by playing kids and by reception.
Cons:
Like cramped sardines.
No loo roll
Noise (but to be expected if you have children) we didn't and wanted to chill/zone out.
I don't want to sound like a moaner it is a pretty place but I like open space and to feel free, with views from my tent, I felt like the chickens in the pen.
This is truly a unique site, where nature is all important. Wake up every morning with bird song, and nothing else. The owners are extremely keen to make sure your stay is enjoyable, even to them using a lap top to make sure that what you say in english is correctly translated into French.
They do not believe in high prices for anything. A 3 star site at 2 star prices. Drinks at 2. 60E Burger and Chips at 3. 90E.
There is free Petanque, Free Table Tennis, and Free WiFI. The only down side is that it is a 10min drive into Pontchateau,
But there is a Pattiserie within 2 mins drive. ( closed monday )
The toilets and washrooms are kept spotless, but take toilet paper.
Whilst touring France we happened across this very delightful camp site totally by accident whilst trying to follow a guide book called cool-camping.
On arrival at the site we were greeted by a very helpful and very humorous cheeky young man who laughed at our mistake at finding the wrong camp site when asked how we knew he was there.
Our mistake turned out to be very fortuitous as it was half the price of the site we were trying to find and situated in a very quiet wooded copse with free wifi and meticulously clean fabulous facilities, hot water and large showers, laundry machines, on site shop and bar, picnic area with seating and cook your own food brick bbq's, large children's play area, because we don't have children of our own we can't fairly rate that part of the site but we could hear the facilities being enjoyed by others, option of bread available in the morning, secure entry to the site with a password to open barrier.
On return to France next year we will include this site as a must stop as the peaceful surroundings with no road noise thus giving you chance to gather your thoughts for the next leg of your journey.
