This is a beautiful spot, set on a small, cosy site with mixed sloping areas and some level areas. It is bordered by pretty woodland and a smallholding with charming alpacas, quail and hens.
There are drinking water standpipes and a central campfire ring. The site is served by a chemical disposal point, dry rubbish disposal and a portaloo.
The owner greeted us on arrival as did her big but very friendly dog. We were made to feel very welcome and she popped over to chat with us a few times over the course of the weekend, filling us in on the delights of the local pub (about 1 mile away)and woodland walk (just behind the site).
We had an undisturbed and peaceful stay - the noise is minimal except for the abundance of partridge, pheasants, magpies etc!
The only drawback - we did a 9-mile footpath walk and found that the majority of the footpaths were unmarked, unused (overgrown) and occasionally blocked. Even the White Horse Way was little used and required careful navigation. So if you are planning on serious walking, take a compass and good map!
Overall, this site is very cosy and friendly with a very warm welcome and the surroundings are exceptionally peaceful
