We turned up on spec at this camp site as we were hoping to see some sea birds as it is an LPO (Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux) information point and reserve. This is an exposed camp site on the end of a peninsula, but there is hedging which helps shelter the wind. It’s a municipal site and the facilities look new. The experience at this site really depends on the weather. We walked along the coast path and saw a couple of gannets, but not much else, however, later we thought that the sunset may be good so we walked out to the beach and coast path and experienced a real treat. We sat on a rock and watched the sun drop on the horizon like a giant ball into the sea, the sky then turned a pink colour and bathed the area in a pink light. We would have liked to stay for another day but the forecast was not good and in the morning it was cloudy and starting to rain, so we moved on. The toilets are typical of French municipal camp sites – ie no toilet seats and no loo roll, but they were kept clean. There is a bar across the road, and a small shop a short walk from the site. This is quite a special place and it was fairly busy in this early season so I would imagine it fills up later in the summer. We paid 12, 55 euros including EHU.
