Set in the middle of the alps & only 3 miles from the town of Zeltweg, camping Murinsel is a paradise if you want a quiet campsite. Superb views across the trout filled lake of the alps. The owner, Hopf, is not just an owner. It's his passion & this clearly shows in his helpfulness & kindness. Nothing was to much trouble. Our UK power cable didn't fit, so they went & bought a new connector for me. Free & fitted it.
There is a great living room for campers to use & it has Beer, Eggs, Milk & butter + frozen bread rolls, which can be defrosted in their 2 ovens. Great price which is all via an honesty box, something UK campsites should try as it's a great idea.
The sites toilets & showers are the BEST I have ever seen on ANY campsite & I camp 5 times per year at different sites! Toilets are separate from the shower/washroom making it a very spacious place.
The on site restaurant is run by Hopfs daughter & the food is 5 star quality as really cheap prices. All locally sourced to boot, totally GM free & 100% organic. We couldn't read the menu, but no worries, they came & sat with us & translated into English & where they couldn't. They just went & brought it out to show us.
No play area for kids, but with a huge lake, there is always something to do. The local village of Grosslobming is a pure picture, the gorgeous houses & quaint river with bridges for pedestrians everywhere. Covered in flowers, its so beautiful.
Local shops in Juddenborg & Knittlefeld are within a few mins car journey or 20 mins by pushbike.
Of an evening, the fireflies start flying, its pure magic & an easy way to spend an hour plus just following them around, watching them green lights dancing above the lake is amazing.
The site is very clean & tidy, something UK sites should aim more towards, plenty of litter bins (shaped like frogs).
I suppose the bottom line is 'Would I go back again?'. You bet, I would go back tomorrow in a heartbeat. 10/10 for beauty, position & quietness.
