I think previous reports do not really do justice to Eglantiere. For a start I would consider it to be a medium sized site, with very good facilities, including an excellent pool and sunbathing area. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor areas, and we found the food to be very tasty and well presented with a large selection which varied daily. The site also does communal meals which seemed very popular though we didn't attend these. Evening entertainment whilst we were there included a concert by a very professional classical pianist.
The camping area is organised in a number of short 'alleys' with pitches separated by tall dense hedges, giving a high level of privacy. Sizes varied, and are charged accordingly, but ours adequately accommodated our 7. 3m caravan, awning, car and usual outdoor eating/cooking stuff. Electric points could be a bit difficult to locate, and, as usual on continental sites, disposal of waste water was tricky (we used the 'in the hedge' technique).
Sanitaires facilities were not quite up to the standard of the best sites but were clean (shoes banned), but ok in the main block. Unfortunately the big waste bins, located near the main sanitaires, were never emptied and became very smelly - avoid pitches close by!
The river through the site is quite fast flowing and in my opinion not really suitable for small children to play in. There are two plage areas within the site with sunbathing areas, but one is a bit shaded. Overall I would say that adherehance to naturism was stronger here than some places - ie, most people were naked most of the time, which I think makes for a more comfortable atmosphere.
The nearby town, Castelnau Magnoac, has the usual services, including small supermarket with one of those out-door launderettes, and service station. My wife bravely used a hairdresser there, with not too disastrous language misunderstandings!)It is an easy 5km bike ride, or rather long walk. Below the town is a large lake/reservoir which is nice to walk or cycle round and there are longer rides/hikes from here which are not too demanding.
This is a small welcoming site with a fair range of facilities including a good sized pool, small shop, bar and restaurant
It is based on a farm which allows for extended organised and informal walking opportunities. It is beside a pretty stream which can be used for paddling.
Many of the pitches are well demarcated and secluded which will be welcomed by some. There are also chalets for rent and wild camping.
This is a smallish, pleasant and personal site. There is river that runs at the edge that can be used for some activities. Staff work hard to be welcoming and provide a range of services.
There is a small shop which is open morning and evening. Wi-Fi is free at nice bar / cafe area. The pool area is attractive to use.
All in all very nice but it is not an all singing facility.
