I was in two minds whether to review this site or not, the reason being that it really is a gem of a site, which presently seems to be a bit of a secret. The site is set in the grounds of Chirk Castle with views over the valley and Offahs Dyke.
The facilities are basic, with no showers or washing up area and the site only allows tents and families. The site is also only open for a very limited time, I think about 30-40 days per year.
This said the camping field is fairly level with a communal campfire pit in the middle of the field. The views from the site are quite amazing, looking down the valley and Offahs Dyke on one side and the Castle on the other.
There is a farm shop at the castle reception which sells the locally reared sausages and bacon etc. And Chirk town is only a couple of miles away with the usual convenience stores, takeaway and pub.
Overall a real find and one that I will definitely be returning to.
