This is a lovely municipal site. The site manager lives on site with his family and is one of the friendliest, most helpful people we have met on a French campsite. He takes great pride in the site, the pitches are immaculate, the two sanitary blocks are spotless. There is a common room with free wifi and a small playground at the front of the site. You can buy ice creams at reception, but no bread, it doesn't matter though as you're within a 10 minute walk from the town with two bakeries and a small supermarket. There's a municipal pool complex with two pools and a waterside a few minutes walk up a side road (traffic free). The pool is free for children ( get your tickets at the campsite reception) and €2 for adults.
Pons is a really lovely small town. It has a castle and an open plan plaza with a couple of restaurants and landscaped gardens in the centre and other historical buildings scattered around the town. There's also a park with canoe hire on the river.
It's well placed to visit Saintes and Cognac.
All in all, a lovely, reasonably priced campsite with a friendly manager, near the motorway- perfect for a few nights stay.
