Where else can you wash the dishes, with a raised colourful flower bed before you, and admire a superb view to the medieval tower at Crest and behind it the soaring Vercors mountains. Also situated in the reception building is the clean and modern toilets and showers with more located around the site.
Washing the dishes is not the only highlight of this delightful site in the Drome valley that is only 20km east of the A7. The terraced site has the best views from the top pitches, with more shaded spots on the lower terraces. There is a swimming pool and children's paddling pool, bar and games room. Pitches vary in size with some sizeable ones, and more on level ground off the one-way roadway. Dotted among the pitches are chalets for hire. The friendly young couple, Axel (French) and Charlotte (Dutch, who speaks good English) only took over the site this year (2013) so some cosmetic work, such as rough patches in the roadway, will need attending to.
The village of Grane with its bar, chemist, boulangerie and small supermarket is in walking distance. However, baguettes may be ordered at the site office. Crest with its large supermarket and weekly market is about 8km away.
The site is ideally situated to explore not only the spectacular mountains to the north-west, but the medieval villages to the south which lead you to the well known delights of the luscious Cotes de Rhone Villages red wines, the lavender fields and olive trees.
Two large towns nearby are Montelimar - for nougat - and bustling Valence which are well worth a visit. The spectacular Ardeche Gorge is easily reached for a day out.
