The site is very nice, the showers clean, we didn't mind paying 50p for 5 mins hot water, the play area is lovely. We ordered pizzas from their takeaway and they were very good.
The tiered pitches are nice and flat, I wouldn't want to camp on their other pitches as they are very slopping.
There is a bit of a view of the sea which is beautiful and the beach nearby is great. The pitches are quite close to one another but over all it was a nice site.
However what their website fails to mention and what they didn't say when we booked is that their site backs onto another venue. I appreciate that they cannot change this but they really ought to tell people about this so that they can make informed decisions. Some people won't mind this and will probably even like being able to go to the venue.
The first night there was karaoke until 11:45pm. There was no point in us saying anything to the staff as we only had one more night and wouldn't have been able to move the tent.
The second night there was a dreadful live band that played until 10. 30pm. We had young children and struggled to get them to sleep, so of course they were tired and teasy during the weekend spoiling our short break.
The second night I was woken at 3:20am to someone from the neighbouring venue singing at the top of their voice. I did contact the camp site after we got home, but 2 weeks later and they have not responded. (Hence the poor customer service rating)
I wish I had the ability to attach videos to demonstrate just how loud the music was.

Fantastic site. We had the perfect pitch for us and they are so well maintained.
Toilets and showers are always being cleaned and the cleaners are fantastic and so friendly.
The shop is a little over priced but that is understandable due to its location and difficulty getting stock.
I will say some of the showers could do with clearer instructions on how to get them operating as you need to put 50p in first to get it going.
All in all a great site this is the second time we've been there and we will be back again.

Just my observations, but certainly areas that could be improved quickly, overall though perfectly satisfactory.
Lets set the context, this was a short trip with just myself and my elderly pooch, so all those family friendly facilities are a bit beyond my scope. I'll also add that its been many years since I've been camping.
Arrived late afternoon (deliberately to avoid the rush) on my booking day, booking was a breeze and staff member was polite enough, my pitch had been changed from the one I had chosen with no explanation, but not a Biggy just could have improved the service slightly.
Drove to allocated pitch, but by luck rather than judgement I made it to where I was supposed to be, no signage at all and I was as far from reception as possible. I had been given a map, but not easy to navigate and drive, ill have to teach the dog to do one or other.
Pitch had recently been mowed and was clean, good size too. Easily fit my 4 man (yes I know that's probably overkill) with the car and one of site picnic tables. The pitched sloped slightly but was easily overcome as tent could be pitched to cater for this. Electric hook-up was easily reached and water was as close as it could be. No views outside of the site from, but, I wasn't really expecting them, a short walk toward the main belly of the site though and the sea was visible.
Speaking of the sea, yes it is a short walk to the beach, but beware its a steep single lane road shared with di-directional cars (welcome to Cornwall) so be vigilant and careful.
On to the facilities, well the ones I used. Toilets, were generally clean, only once did I find the cubicles needed attention (water on the floor and no loo roll). I tried all 3 toilet blocks, and strangely found the main block the worst. I'm a frontie (if you know what I mean) and due to the width of the stall had trouble.
The other 2 were good though with the one being furthest from the entrance the best. They were al reasonably decorated, don't expect anything more than lashings of gloss and emulsion, no designer tiles from Porcelanosa :). The locks on the doors could do with some attention (i did find one that didn't lock) and the others were a mix of bolts into either metal fixings or drilled straight into the wooden architrave. They weren't the easiest bolts to figure out sometimes either.
I only tried one set of showers and found them to be great, they cost, 50p for 5 mins, but I found that long enough every time and the shop was helpful enough to provide £5 worth of coinage on cashback to use in them. They were clean and often empty when I used them, the water was just right for me temperature wise and I always felt better for using them.
The showers and toilets appeared to be regularly cleaned, though an approx. Cleaning schedule posted on each block would be great, I did turn up to one block to find it closed and then had to go to another. That brings me on to cleaning, the closed block above had the complete facility closed, men's, ladies, washing up etc.
Rather than each individual section, I don't know if this resulted in them being closed longer as each was cleaned separately, or if they were all cleaned simultaneously. This was the only time I saw queues at the other facilities. Even the Men's :)
The other facilities seemed to have each section closed off in turn which I guess limited disruption. A quick mention about the washing up facilities, I had no trouble using or with access, there were occasionally queues, but at meal times I would expect this.
The shop, which I only used once, was very poorly stocked, and I get that it was coming to the end of season and I was probably using it late in the day, but it was still a little depressing to see.
I had a pizza from the pizza shop and it was pretty nice, I wouldn't have a problem having another one. Music was far too loud that I couldn't actually hear when I picked up my order though. Of the 2 staff in the shop, one seemed pleasant enough (well I think so, couldn't hear her remember) but the other didn't even acknowledged I existed even though he was standing right in my line of site the other side of the counter.
That brings me on to staff in general, I had very little interaction, unless I instigated it, there were staff on site daily, grass cutting, cleaning facilities, checking pitches etc. But not one looked, smiled or said hello. Maybe they are all just waiting for the season to wind down and they get some rest, other comments seem to imply this maybe the case and I just got unlucky.
I also had a mobile phone signal whilst at the pitch, both 3 and Vodafone were too flaky to be of use, which I cant blame the site for, and I'm not trying to, but not to worry, I can use the full site wifi that is advertised.
Except at my pitch there was such a poor signal I could lock on to that either, even though there looked to a Wi-Fi repeater next to my pitch. I suspect the outsourced provider doesn't maintain it properly. I ended up having to drive to other areas of the site to get messages/make calls etc. Just something to be aware off if Wi-Fi is your thing.
One thing I didn't use, but was obviously prevalent, fire pits. These went down a storm and had I not had to leave one lit unattended (see about having to check messages etc above) I would have certainly made use, I was actually quite jealous.
One more thing was just the confusion with information. E. G high season dates, various place this is detailed on the website, most of them differ. The pizza/marquee opening days differed on the website to what was verbally passed on, to what was handed out on the leaflets.
So to sum it all up, and that's easiest answered by the following. Would I go back, and yes I would but wiser now to knowing where to request a pitch and where not to, and I would have no misconception's about what to expect.
My biggest surprise in my whole trip is how little "camping" has moved on in the last 10-15 years. I know we have glamping etc. But if I was to compare facilities and capabilities to what I was doing/using all those years ago, nothing has changed.
I still think back to the days when I camped in the South of France and there were things like, individual toilet and shower pods, decent eateries that took advantage of the views etc, bread delivers to pitches.

A really clean and well sited campsite. Did have a bit of a shaky start as when we booked the site the phone call went through to the sister site which was not situated where we needed to be as we were meeting other friends who were staying in Caernarfon.
We also were arriving late and when booking were told this would not be a problem but it was. It was resolved but it was not a great beginning.
The man who called us managed to put us next to our friend and did give really clear instructions on how to reach them.
The campsite is in a beautiful location and you can see Snowdon from here.
Facilities were good and very clean, there was no shop that we saw which was not an issue.
Enjoyed the short stay.

We have returned to Chycarne yet again for our annual family holiday and had the best time despite a pretty heavy storm!
The site has seen many improvements over the years and in particular this year we enjoyed the clean hot showers (50p for 5 mins, cuts down on waiting time!) new pot washing facilities.
There are now hard standing gravel roads for vehicles all around the site and a new shower block, toilets for the lower Kennack camping field.
The site is on a slight slope which may put some people off but the pitches are of ample size and we hardly notice it. The views out to Kennack sands beach are stunning with some beautiful coastal walks.
15 min walk to Kennack sands with passage by car and parking at the bottom. The owners are friendly, helpful and run the site seamlessly with the marque arms being a great addition for drinks and bingo!
There is a newly refurbished pirate ship play area with table tennis and a very well stocked on site shop, Big daddy’s pizza and a lovely snack shack open daily if you want a treat or can’t be bothered to cook!
We think the site is fairly priced at just £249 for us for a week with the cost of electric hook up added on arrival at £42. Phone signal is much better than previous years and you can get on the site WIFI however we didn’t need it.
We had a fire every night in our own fire pit however you can buy wood and rent a fire pit for about £4 a night wood is a tad expensive at £7. 50 a bag but there is a Tesco in Helston 10 miles away for supplies.
We endured a bad storm whilst there so headed to St Ives for some respite, on our return the event shelter was destroyed, we later found out that the owners drive around the site stabilising tents that had being damaged by the high winds.
They also keep their Facebook page updated to offer shelter and keep up the high spirits if you find yourself sat in your tent holding in for dear life 😂.
We will be returning to the site next year as there is still so much unexplored beauty around the peninsula and we find this a safe, comfortable and friendly site to use as our base.
Thank you again Chycarne for helping us make some great family memories.

Wow loved the site slight slope large pitch plenty to do easy to get anywhere in Cornwall in about 1 hour I had concerns about paying 50p for a shower but this was not a problem as I never had to wait.
As for the family that run the site they were brilliant they even put a family up in a static caravan when there tent was destroyed in a storm. The on site food was very nice if a little expensive.
We have never returned to the same site in the 10 years of camping, our decision, but the next time we are in Cornwall this will be where we will stay.

I would agree 100 % with the last 2 reviewers comments.
On arrival we were allocated a completely different caravan with no explanation as to why.
We had booked a caravan over the phone and been very specific about the plot. Not wanting to make a scene we decided it was a bonus to have an extra room. The caravan was larger but quite a bit older.
The rooms needed airing and whilst making up the beds -one duvet had blood stains on and pillows had sick stains on, and some smelt of urine. Again not wanting to get annoyed we asked for replacements. The fridge also needed a small repair, which no one must have checked on inspection, before we arrived. All complaints were dealt with however quickly and with an apology.
The shower rooms had water all over the floor, we were not using them but felt sorry for anyone who had to. There was rubbish around the site and rubbish bags strewn next to the bin area which smelt like it had not been emptied for weeks. The result was every morning cleaning up the odd rogue and plastic bag floating about the site.
The shop on site was filthy and this had obviously filtered down to the cleanliness of the caravans. As we were leaving I checked under the beds to see if we had dropped anything during our visit and was horrified to find DOG/CAT MESS UNDER THE BED. It had obviously been there for quite some time. The cleaner if they have one must simply not care about either cleanliness or the health of anyone staying in the vans.
Both myself and my partner were rather shocked and upset by this and in utter disbelief that this had not been found -through sheer laziness and lack of general hygiene standards and training.
The site itself has masses of potential and is a beautiful spot but I'm sorry to say within 200 yards of this site there are other better looking sites, as for this site other than the politeness of the young girl on reception I would say avoid.

Stayed here on the basis of the previous positive reviews, unfortunately something must have changed at the site recently as it certainly didn't warrant 9 stars rating it currently has.
The young lady in reception was helpful and friendly when booking on the phone and at arrival. The site itself is very tired and looked like it had just had a long hard season, rather than being early July pre the main season. The facilities were dirty and didn't get a clean during our stay. There was a discarded cigarette on the pay machine for the shower that looked like it had taken up residence for some time, graffiti on the cubicle doors and other general detritus all around.
The pitches are sloping but can level up with chocks without much problem. The roads around the site are rubble and not the best for walking on in flip flops. Off the site is easy access to the coast path and beach (there are restrictions on the beach for dogs in the summer time).
As there are a number of other sites in the area to choose from, I wouldn't use this site again.

Awful! We stayed here for one night and picked it because of the previous good reviews on UK Campsite but can hardly believe it’s the same place.
It is such a shame as this has the potential to be a really lovely site, it’s a great size, has access to good walks down to the beach and along the coast and the facilities it lists on the website are all there but where do I start.
When we arrived we were checked in by a really nice, helpful lady, good customer service.
That was the positive…. Now the rest.
We had asked for a pitch with a sea view, the pitch we had been allocated was in the right place for a sea view but there was a big caravan blocking the view. This is understandable on a busy site in high season but the site wasn’t busy, there were empty pitches all around us. Our pitch was also almost next to the bar and the “new” toilet blocks so people were constantly walking past the van to and from the bar.
The “new” toilet blocks, as advertised on the website, must be a couple of years old now and don’t look like they have been cleaned in that time. What made it worse was that the ladies showers were completely flooded so wading through other peoples soap scum. Nice! To add insult to injury you have to pay for this pleasure, 50p for 5 mins then 10p for every additional minute. Before the 5 minutes was up the tide from the shower cubicle had met the flood waters. I was out of there!
The bins were completely full up and a bit whiffy in the hot weather so no surprise to see maggots wriggling across the top of one of them the morning that we left! If we hadn’t of been planning on leaving anyway that would have sealed it. There is a Takeaway café on site. Looks good but pitched directly opposite it is a long stay caravan with any amount of stuff piled around it, not the best view to sit and eat your breakfast.
I didn’t want to only be negative about this site as the location it great and due to it’s surroundings it really has potential but basic cleanliness was severely lacking. Further to our experience I couldn't recommend this site to anyone.

For once, we decided to hire a static rather than tow our caravan the 250 miles to The Lizard. We hired a six-berth which consisted of 3 bedrooms. The caravan was clean and well maintained and was spacious enough for three adults and three teenagers. As well as a microwave, cooker and fridge, there was also a good quality TV with a strong Freeview signal. The staff were polite and friendly at all times and did everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible.
There was a well stocked Pub within a marquee as well as a snack bar. There was also a convenience store and pizzeria near the main entrance.
We took a walk round the camping pitch which was very full as it was bank holiday weekend and everyone seemed to be happy with their alfresco cooking well under way. The Sea views were one of the best!
An adjacent holiday site also had a bar which was available to all as was the Parkdean resort just down the road. I can thoroughly recommend The Potter's Bar, a few yards from the park which was a free-house. Kennack Sands was just a short walk downhill. Parking at the beach was £4 a day but limited free parking was available on the way down. Two cafes were situated at the beach.
All in all, there was something to please everyone on site or nearby and was well situated as a base for touring the area. Flambards being only a few minutes drive at nearby Helston.
