We needed a base close to Bristol for a bit of a weekend getaway in the motorhome, and this little spot definitely delivered on convenience.
It's tucked away next to the Cleve Rugby Club, which at first we thought might be a bit loud. Actually, on the whole, it was pretty peaceful, although we can imagine during a big rugby match day it could be a bit livelier.
The pitches are nice and level grass, and even after a spot of rain on Friday, the drainage seemed really good, which was a bonus for the campervan. We had electric hook-up and the fresh water and waste disposal points were easy enough to access. There are basic loos available 24/7.
The biggest draw for us was definitely the location. We popped on the bikes and were on the Bristol to Bath cycle path in no time, which was brilliant. Getting into Bristol was easy enough too, either by bus just a short walk away, or a quick drive if we fancied it.
Neil, the owner, was really helpful and friendly when we checked in, which always makes a difference.
All in all, if you're looking for a simple, convenient spot with easy access to Bristol and some great cycling routes, Hayfields CL is definitely worth considering. Just maybe factor in the potential for rugby-related noise if you're looking for absolute silence every minute of the weekend.
People always say Baltic Wharf is full, so if you want to be in Bristol try here. Balloon Festival? try here or as a rally.
We attended life long friends (fellow caravaners who didn't know this CL existed!) wedding anniversary do at the rugby club next door, so any noise was of our own making, but we didn't so it wasn't an issue.
Neil does a grand job running this CL, so support him.
Plenty of space to spread out. The toilets are convenient and spotless. 2 water taps. Rubbish bins and chemical disposal are discrete.
Bristol City Centre is a bus ride away, so you bus pass holders don't have to worry about traffic in town.
Follow the directions in the book, or the signs to Cleve RFC from the Ring Road, easy drive in and out.
We have family in the area, this is twixt and between and now we know it will use again.
Stayed on this site for 5 nights, not the best site we have used. Very expensive £17. 50 a night, had electric hook up, water, waste disposal and toilets, 1 gents and 1 ladies, but these were used by the rugby club and not very clean. Very muddy and also a lot of drain off from rugby pitch. Ideal position for visiting family or friends, and ideal for Bath and Bristol. It did have a children's play area and we could have used the club house but didn't.
