 This is a brilliant site! Great facilities and right next to a lovely river with a beach. It's got everything. We stayed for a week and will go back. We didn't really see much of the staff, we were left to it, all very laid back - perfect!

Have stayed on this campsite around 10 times since 2003 and keep coming back. Laid back campsite next to river with excellent hosts. Very helpful. Small shop in the campsite office which also has a daily bread delivery. Other shops in the village.
River is dammed which leaves a wide area to swim in. Also has springboard, mid-river platform and lifeguard. Area marked off for the little ones. Entry is via a man-made beach which has a beach bar serving food, drinks and ice creams. Play / games facilities also just behind the beach. Under the bridge is also a canoe hire place which will drop you off upriver and you just paddle back to the site. A good way to spend the afternoon.
Just a short walk across the river is the village / small town of Aubterre-sur-Dronne which has a very pretty and typically french square, a monolithic church (cut into the chalk) and the main church at the top with a roman facade. One of the prettiest french villages I have seen. Lots of cafe's / restaurants and shops around the square and surrounding streets.
