If you like small and friendly family run sites then you will love this place.
Christelle & Fabrice are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. It has spotless toilet and shower facilities, swimming pool, in high season food trucks visit on an evening ie, pizza, fish, burgers etc although there is not a restaurant on site there is a bar and you can order fresh croissants, bread etc for every morning.
It was not a noisy site and you can easily walk into the nearest town and the local supermarket is within walking distance. Bike hire is available on site and there is a great cycling network with various routes, if you don’t want to drive mid July a free shuttle bus starts with various routes that cover the island.
We had a fantastic 10 days and even though our French is not too clever and Christelle can speak German, French and a little English we managed great and was made very welcome.
A trip on the little train in chateaux Oloren is 10 euros but I wouldn’t bother as it’s all in French so wasted unless you understand the commentary.
We enjoyed exploring the Island and a trip on the petite train in St Trojan is a must, take a picnic and make a day of it, the train runs on a narrow gauge rail for about 6k and we stayed onto the last stop, spent a few hours on a wonderful beach but swimming isn’t allowed because of strong currents.
We then caught the train back and hopped off at the first beach which is ok to swim but we didn’t like all the shells under foot but it does have lifeguards. It was a lovely day out.
We are already planning our return for next year via mobile
