We arrived without booking and the place was empty, literally no one else there and when we asked if we could stay the lady dealing with us could not have been more unhelpful, it was like we were a hindrance to here and she was soo rude. We were originally going to stay for 5 nights but only stayed for one.
Facilities, location etc were adequate but we did not feel like we were wanted there. On checking out a settling our bill which should have cost £12 pn were we charged £15, we should have argued the 25% increase but we just wanted away.
Basically a Certificated site, albeit no longer affiliated to C&CC. We had a one-night stopover here as we are not Caravan Club members (£12 surcharge on the nearby Brora CC site). Cost £16 for EHU on grass, a bit pricy but we'd be happy to come back again for a short stay. About 5 hook-ups.
Good points - large sunny well-kept flat field, panoramic views of the hills, views down to the sea (looking over the roofs of the unit on the nearby CC site in its hollow). Relaxed homely atmosphere, no list of rules, pitch up / pay later; the friendly helpful owner lives on-site, the 'office' in a timber shed stays open. Quiet: the only traffic passing is the caravans & motorhomes from the CC site, the nearby main road isn't noisy. Good walk off site over the golf course to the beautiful beach, though dogs can't be off-lead due to livestock and nesting Arctic Terns on the beach.
Less good points - don't come if you must have modern washrooms: they're clean (with rugs on the concrete floor & shower curtains at the sinks for privacy) but you need a coin for any hot water (including the pot wash). This shouldn't matter if you use your own on-board facilities or are happy to be reminded of childhood camping trips or it's a stopover. No Motorhome dump. We didn't need to get water on board or use the CDP, so I can't comment on these.
Nearby Brora is worth a look, an interesting place with a small pretty harbour and enough shops to stock up.
