From sending the original enquiry using this website the staff were very friendly and polite and directed me on how to book. Booking was easy and I turned up to be met by the friendly owner who walked me in to the field and showed me where the water and waste points were.
They offer electric and non electric and for this I paid just £12 for the night, bargain for me and my dog. The other owner came and met me later and was very pleasant too.
The site is very flat and spacious with no trees so you get unblocked sunlight all day long. The dog was allowed to run off lead which was great for playing fetch to wear her out a bit more.
No showers or toilets, but that was fine as I knew this
Walking from the site is not the best if you want to go miles, but they had a field at the end of the site we could use and just down the road is Over where you can park for free next to the River Greeat Ouse and you can then walk for miles and miles on nice flat paths and enjoy watching the boats go past.
St Ives is around 30 minutes drive away and they have a large Waitrose, Aldi, Morrisons and loads of small shops and pubs / cafes to enjoy. Locally there is a Premier just down the road for your essentials.
Ely, Cambridge and so much more is not too far away and this is a great base for visiting the local area.
The site has easy access which is handy for the bigger units and has loads of space to walk around, play, etc and I really enjoyed my one peaceful and relaxed night there ready for the next day.
Recently returned from this site. A very warm greeting from Julie and Pete, the owners, and given the usual info about the site. At that time, it was completely empty so we had plenty of choice for our pitch.
I think we surprised them by going into the far corner, next to the chicken pen. They had warned us that the cockerels were noisy early morning. That suited us. The sounds of the countryside. We quite enjoyed hearing the cockerels welcoming the day. It took me back to my childhood and the chickens and cockerel we had then.
The site is a flat field with 2 taps for fresh water and 2 boxes with EHU supply, so probably worth taking a long lead to make sure you can reach. Grey water goes into the ditch alongside the pitches. Bins and CDP were near the house.
We found it a quiet site as you are far enough from the road not to be disturbed by any traffic noise, although it was not a busy road, anyway. There was an occasional farm tractor working, but that was no problem.
This site is handy for visits to Cambridge as it is only 2 miles from a Park and Ride and an easy transfer into the city centre on the guided bus. We used the cycle track on this route to visit St Ives, Huntingdon, Houghton Mill, Fen Drayton Lakes and eastward to Cambridge. We also used a byeway from Willingham to cycle to Aldreth and then on to Ely.
For your shopping, there is a Co-op in Willingham, or a Waitrose and Morrisons in St Ives or a very large Tesco in Bar Hill.
We visited 2 National Trust properties, Wimpole Estate and Anglesey Abbey, both within an easy car ride.
We were there during the peak of the heat wave and we tended to spend the hottest afternoons sitting in the shade of the walnut tree.
We can heartily recommend this site. Would we go back? Perhaps not, no fault of the site, but only because we have had 2 weeks to explore the area. If only we could find more sights like this in other areas.
Stayed here for the night on our way back from France.
This is a new CS site.
It is a lovely site, quiet, secluded. Very clean and tidy with EHU, CDP and water tap. £12 for the night. This site is very handy for visiting Cambridge and St Ives. The guided bus and the cycle path between the two is just down the road.
The site is about a 5 minute drive from the A14. There are local shops and pubs in Over, Willingham and Swavesey and a big Tesco at Bar Hill.
On entry to the site (behind the bungalow) there is a gate with a combination lock. There will be an envelope with details for you to read. The lovely old chap in the bungalow is the owners father and he is a bit deaf.
We will be visiting again soon.
