We chose this site from the ACSI book for an overnight stop. The directions made it easy to find, but we were surprised by the steep hill we had to drive up to the site, and the distance from the village.
We arrived early afternoon, it was very quiet and reception was closed, but a lady appeared and was happy to book us in. She gave us a map of the site, and indicated an area to choose a pitch, also the location of the only sanitary block open.
The site is on a hillside, very large with lots of narrow roads, pitches are located off the roads and are mainly gravel, it was very hot so no grass at all. The pitches are uneven and some slope, the ACSI book states that 'caravans can be brought to the pitch by tractor', and you can see why this might be necessary.
We chose a pitch not too far from the toilet block. This had limited facilities, luckily the site was pretty quiet, though there were people in some of the cabins.
However the view from the hillside was stunning. Very dark at night, a torch is required.
We used the swimming pool, very welcome in the heat, but it was a bit of a trek up there, and there is no shower or changing area nearby, just a very small toilet. No other facility on site appeared to be open.
Because of the distance and steep hill to the village we didn't get to leave the site, but had a walk round in the cooler evening. There are lots of pathways which appear to lead up into the hillside.
This is not the sort of site we would normally choose, it is more of a holiday destination.
We used this ACSI site as a night halt. There were a number of outfits camped there, but the site was very much not fully open. We were given the choice of 3 or 4 pitches, but we realised when walking around that there were many more on different levels not being used. We assumed that the electricity may not have been switched on to these. Having used the dishwashing facilities nearest to us in the evening, we found that the rest of the block was not in use when we went to use it in the morning. We had to use facilities much further away and that one only had 3 toilets. We were not informed of this when we booked in. We felt that this was poor in mid June. There was no bread available on the site and we were given (somewhat vague) directions to a boulangerie in the village. This, however, was more than a short walk, so we didn't bother and bought bread later in the day.
