This is a lovely campsite. A nice place to spend time to relax and unwind. Nice to be able to have fires. Angie was great. We were out and about and were unable to get some wood for the fire, a quick text and when we got back she arrived with a wheelbarrow of logs for us. Nice clean site. Good showers, only two so if a lot of people there you may have to wait, but lots of hot water. A nice place to stay. If up this way again will definitely stay again.

We stayed at Chilley Farm campsite near Pevensey at the beginning of June.

Once we had navigated the very narrow and winding access road with very few passing places - tricky when we met oncoming traffic - we arrived at the campsite. The camping field is in a lovely quiet location, set on a working farm. There is a farm shop selling their own meat (we bought it for our BBQ), fresh fruits and veg and other locally produced goodies. You can even get cooked breakfast and a cream tea in the joint cafe. (This is a separate venture, and we used the cafe, which was good, but very busy and a victim of its own success, as it struggled to meet the demand for cooked breakfast the morning we decided to eat there - extremely slow service).

On arrival the campsite owners were welcoming and relaxed. We could pitch where we wanted, on a mainly flat field, surrounded by a stream (currently not fenced off so not ideal for young children, but whilst we there a fence was being erected around the perimeter). There are goats and ducks that can be fed with the packs sold in the shop. We hired a fire pit and bought kindling and wood packs for our campfire.

The facilities were basic, just two toilets and two showers, but they were clean and only really a queue when the farm shop/cafe customers were needing to use the shared toilet facilities.

There is no electric hook up, but this meant we got our kids away from the technology for a while and they used the large open space to play football, throw frisbees etc, and generally act as kids should!

There is one sink near the farm shop to do washing up, but we found it easier to boil water and do washing up outside our tent.

This is a great back to basics site for quiet, family friendly camping. We will return.

Stayed for two nights. Had an okay time.

Pros: pretty site, nice toilet/shower facilities, nice shop, playground, you can feed goats (although we never saw them) and ducks, fires allowed, dogs allowed

Cons about the site itself: only two toilets and showers so sometimes a queue, no hooks to hang up your belongings in the shower (although there was a bench), a 'normal' hand towel was left in the toilets and while I appreciate the reusability the lack of hooks meant it was almost always on the floor (yuck!), the lane you travel down to get to the camp site is a proper tiny country lane but had a few large lorries coming through so we had to bury our car in the hedge a couple times.

None of the above were a deal breaker, just being thorough in our review.

That being said, we didn't have the best time. It's supposed to be a quiet site from 10:30pm to 7:30 am. But we were woken to hammering well before this when they started working on one of the outbuildings.

While no fault of the campsite, our fellow campers also didn't respect this quiet time and lacked general campsite etiquette (like walking through our tent awning as a cut through) in addition to not following the rules. (Driving in the campsite late at night, dog loose and not under control, amplified music, etc. ) In addition someone was driving ATVs in the field next to the camping field up to 9pm.

That being said, we'll probably give the campsite one more try on a future camping trip because it has great potential.

We stayed as two families, with two tents over the August bank holiday weekend. We stayed for four nights. On arrival you can pitch wherever you like, with as much room as you like too. There was still plenty of space available even over the bank holiday weekend.

A delightful campsite with friendly attentive staff who work in the Chilley Farm Shop. A gorgeous farm shop with inhouse butchers. Excellent locally supplied meat and fresh eggs for all your camping meals. But the hours are 9-4 (but I did buy as early as 8 one morning) so if venturing out for days, it's easy to miss buying from here, which is a shame for us and them.

There's two toilets and two showers for all. These are brand new and the showers were excellent, more powerful even than I have at home, with constant powerful hot water, which is certainly rare on a campsite! The drains tended to become blocked in the showers, however, the owner is aware of this and says she's experiencing teething problems as they are new to providing camping facilities. There's a small charge of 1 per person for use of the showers, which I happily paid at the end of our stay. The price to stay at Chilley Farm was very reasonable and I feel it fair they charge on top for the use of the showers as not all use.

Angie, the owner is doing a grand job and I compliment her cute campsite.

There's a goat, some geese and a few other animals which you can hear during the night which adds to the whole camping experience.

There's a small playground which was of good quality and also barrels of hay left in the middle of the camping field for children to play on or around.

A Marks & Spencer's petrol station/shop was located down the country lane.

There are no hook ups available.

The owner provides a fire pit and logs if required for only 5, these were great to toast your marshmallows on and keep yourselves warm by.

There isn't washing up facilities but maybe the owners will add this in the future.

All in all, a fab campsite which I would highly recommend.
