Can’t fault the location or the fact you can have fires but they seriously need to do something about the facilities. There’s 2 toilets and 2 showers for 50 pitches.
The showers flood and the water doesn’t drain away, meaning people can’t clean them after they’ve used them. It says in the booking email that the facilities are cleaned several times a day but they weren’t cleaned at all on our second day and were absolutely disgusting. I emailed reception and they said the showers and toilets had been cleaned but they really hadn’t.
There’s a drop off point and a small car park but the car park isn’t big enough, meaning people park in the drop off point too. We had to park on the road as both areas were full. The whole estate feels like they just want your money. I understand they’re trying to raise funds to keep the estate running but that has to be balanced with decent customer service.
Other campers paid no attention to the quiet after 10pm rule and as we isn’t see a single member of staff during our whole 5 nights nothing could be done. It’s disappointing as it’s such an amazing location and we’d love to come back but there’s just not enough facilities and the ones there are are filthy.

We stayed the first week of the school summer holiday a short while after they had opened (for the first time) and just before the summer (music) school at the Hall. We were alone except for one other, so it was a bit unusual to have a brand new campsite with brand new facilities all to ourselves. It was an absolute delight. The views of the surrounding countryside were wonderful, as were the swallows swooping across the field. The estate itself has plenty to offer and there is also a lovely pub in the village. The facilities were good. Its location near Totnes with access to all the delights of South Devon is ideal. We certainly hope to return.
