Bellaport caravan park is beautifully situated up on the hillside above Tal-Y-Bont and has amazing sweeping views of the coast and the Lleyn.

I was lucky enough to get the last pitch there over the bank holiday weekend and although the site was full with 23 units it was an oasis of peace and quiet.

There is a wonderful ancient woodland behind the site with numerous footpaths to explore and a river flowing through. This was a lovely way to walk down the hill to Tal-Y-Bont.

Benar beach is a 30 minute walk away along tarmac or about an hour away if you follow the Coastal Path which zigzags through fields.

The showers and loo are perfectly serviceable and clean, but not sparking and smart as on a Club Site.

For me, this site is perfection.

Very quiet with fantastic views over the bay. Showers and toilets are clean and ample for the size of the site. Very friendly owner and helpful to find a pitch that bests suits your unit. Not all pitches are flat so you may need blocks for levelling.

Would definitely stay here again. Nice quiet site with everything only 5 minutes away by car or a 15/20 minutes walk.

Sheltered walks in the woods that lead down to the local pub or through the hills and over a lovely little brook.

This was my second visit to the site. The first time I went, last year, I was a little surprised by the facilities which are, as described by another reviewer, a bit basic.

The toilets are in a different area of the site from the showers but both are kept clean. The showers (one each for men and women) are at the side of the farmhouse; the plus side (at least for the women's; I don't know about the men's!) is that the shower cubicle is in a large room which means that it's possible to get dressed and undressed without having to worry about avoiding water from the shower and adopting an ostrich position.

The cubicle is up two steps, however, so would not suit someone with restricted mobility. There are several water points around the site and reasonable waste water and chemical toilet disposal areas.

The mobile and wi-fi signals are patchy (but in my experience that applies to much of the area, not just the site).

The nearest shops are in Dyffryn Ardudwy - there is a Spar with a butchers and Fox's, which is also the post office, at the north end of the village. Parking near Spar is tricky but there is a small public car park just off the main road near to Fox's. They stock some nice cakes (!) and a reasonable range of essentials. There is also a petrol station if you need fuel. Otherwise, Barmouth is about 4 miles away.

One practical point - the turn in to the road which leads to the site is slightly hidden and not obvious. If you are approaching from the south (i. E. Barmouth), drive over the bridge in Tal-y-Bont, past the pub on the right and the pizza place on the left.

The entrance is where the speed signs change to 40 mph so you need to slow down and be ready to turn right. There is a small metal sign which says Bellaport next to the brick wall and nothing else to indicate this is where it is. On my first visit I overshot the entrance twice (once in each direction) which is something of a nuisance towing a caravan!

I think the possible negatives relating to the toilets and showers are more than outweighed by the plus points of the site. The location is wonderful with superb views out over Cardigan Bay, down to the beach at Morfa Dyffryn (a nature reserve where you can walk along the sand dunes and beach) and across to the Lleyn Peninsular.

The site is situated half a mile up a private road from the main Barmouth - Harlech road and so there is almost no traffic noise at all, other than an occasional noisy motorbike; the only sounds are of the stream which runs through the wood at the back of the site, birdsong and silence. There is a large pond in an adjacent field (overlooked by some of the pitches) and on one occasion I saw a heron take off from it.

If you want luxury caravanning and entertainment you won't be interested in Bellaport; but if you are looking for stunning views and peace and quiet this is the place for you. It's why I returned for a second visit and will definitely go again.

Lovely peaceful site with fantastic views. Lovely woodland area behind the campsite which is great for dog walking. Disappointed with the toilets and shower in particular for the cost.

The light in the men's toilet wasn't working and I wasn't impressed with the showers at all so didn't use them. Very friendly owners and there seemed to be a lot of caravans there for longer stays.

Access to Barmouth and Harlech down the half mile access road.

For 3 years now we always go to Bellaport caravan site. It's a very relaxing site with panoramic views of the sea, the country side.

Fantastic and friendly owners. A lovely walk through the country park.

A lovely place to visit and stay.
