 We discovered this treasure by complete chance, after a long day's drive across the Massif Central, heading down towards the Ardeche Gorges at the very top of Provence.
Watch out for a smallish sign as you head downhill towards the Rhone valley, turn sharp right and follow a narrow (but perfectly do-able) lane for about 1 km. The site is on the riverbank, at the bottom of a small valley, set amongst beautiful wooded hills. It's a shady site with several great riverbank pitches (and none that are far from the river). At this point the Ardeche is still quite small and runs across several rocky basins that provide perfect and safe swimming. Idyllic!
Though it's a small site, the facilities are excellent and are in the process of fairly extensive renovation. There's a shop/bar selling all the necessities, and a lounge, all in a building with suitably rural ambience. The owner has only been running the site for a year or so and is very welcoming and helpful. He also speaks very good English, which he's keen to practice!
After several very hot days elsewhere the site's location at about 1800 feet meant pleasant sunshine and warmth in the day and comfortable, cool nights.
We cannot recommend it highly enough.
