Having stayed at sites further west in the Marais, we decided to try this one in a different location. It is a Municipal site, which accepts the ACSI card. Reception was closed between 12-2. 30pm in early June. Staff very friendly.
We were allocated a pitch, but if we didn't like the pitch we could have a look and ask to have different one; whilst waiting to check-in there was someone who came in to ask for a different pith and that wasn't a problem.
The pitches are quite large, grassy, although there is the odd smaller one, which appeared to be allocated to motorhomes, mainly overnighters. Most have a fair amount of shade although again, a few have mostly sun. We were quite happy with our allocated pitch.
Facilities were excellent, toilet paper provided and kept very clean at all times; water was very hot and adjustable in the showers. There is a small playground for children. The village is within walking distance with also a large SuperU slightly further out towards Coulon.
There are cycleroutes, but we had trouble finding some of the signposts! After a day or so, and getting used to the area, we found one post in the village where the cyclesign had been removed, no wonder we were confused!
But there are maps of the cycleroutes, at 1. 50 Euro each it's well worth investing in. There is a lovely cycleroute into Coulon along the river, much better than along the main road and much more scenic. From there you can go in other directions. It's alsopossible to cycle into Niort from there along one of the cycleroutes, but we didn't do that this time.
Overall, a positive experience and certainly a site we'll return to. via mobile
Easily approached, adjacent to the local municipal swimming pool.
The pitches are large, flat, well drained and grassy. All easily serviced by standard blue ehu (10 amps) and water points are quite near.
There are no “animations” to annoy the residents( but boring for children)
The showers were hot, clean and modern with toilet paper provided.
The main cycle paths were not adjacent to the site as in other sites in the area, but the cleanliness and maintenance of the site more than compensated.
In the village was the local baker and a reasonably large SuperU for food and fuel.
Coulon was about 5 kilometres down the road, where you could avail yourself of all things touristy.
Having wandered around the area, nosing into other campsites, we are of the opinion that is the site of choice for exploring the Marais Poitevin
