Wow, what an AMAZING experience. The site is located in the 'bowels' of a fortification, so it goes without saying it was high above the city.
The site is really unusual and the pitches are set in terraces down into the centre of the castle. It is like being in a jungle. The staff were obviously nature lovers and tended the fauna with care. A truly beautiful setting.
Facilities - brilliant
CARS - you are allocated a space near to your tent.
SOME PLACES for MOTOR HOMES
Mainly for small tents, we were pushing it with the the Quechua, in fact we had to move to accommodate the tent.
BAR - beautiful vine covered terrace
PROSSECCO - 6 Euros a BOTTLE!
Really helpful staff, nothing was too much.
KITCHEN - outdoor hob for anyone to use
Sun terrace overlooking the city - WOW
SECURITY - CCTV cameras in reception, security gate and cards in use. Really comforting.
RECEPTION - Friendly, knowledgeable. The best yet. The person we dealt with gave us options and said if we didn't like the pitch we could swap. Everywhere was beautiful but not all areas would fit the tent.
Negative - Lots of flying, biting bugs, but you get this anywhere!
This place is really for people who are touring. The vast majority were either on motor bikes or on bicycles with panniers.
It was ideal to walk into the city.
Definitely stay there again.
This is our second time in Verona, this was so special because the campsite gave you a sense of being able to be part of it's history. Something we didn't feel when we went in a hotel.
NOT A PLACE FOR CARAVANS, it would be almost impossible to manage and set up. There was small area at the top of the site for motor homes. (we saw very few caravans in Italy at all, but we were on hilly terrain most of the time)
The campsite is a central location in Verona, so Ideal for a stop over if you are attending a concert in the Amphitheatre (which we are).
There is a direct train link from Verona to Venice, so we are now staying an additional night.
So far I have found the administrative staff really helpful. They came back to check the tent size which I had incorrectly stated 5 X 10m. It is in fact 7 X 5m ! I then added another day and she confirmed within minutes.
We would normally go for a more rural location but this site is surrounded by trees yet within walking distance of the river Arno.
When I return I will give a few more 'sound' tips.
