Came to this site as our favoured site in Tournon was full and inaccessible due to a festival that had closed the town. It is situated adjacent to the river Doux, near the road bridge crossing, with the wooded valley beyond, very attractive.
We were welcomed by the Warden, and allocated a pitch, though I think they were almost full.
The site is terraced down towards the river, though it is fenced off apart from an access gate. The area below the site in the valley is grassed, people were walking dogs there, and you can access the river from there. One side of the site seems to have mainly static accommodation, the other has tourers.
The pitch we were given was mainly dried mud as it was very hot, and there was a distinct smell of sewage, however for 1 night we were ok.
There are 2 sanitary blocks, one of them near the pool. All very clean, plenty of well appointed cubicles, mixed gender. Washing up is under cover at the side. The pool was very welcome.
As noted by the previous reviewer, the tourist train goes past the entrance to the site, the terminus station is just next door. The trains run at the weekends in the summer. From the station is a cycle path which takes you to Tournon town or the supermarket, not too far to walk.
We were happy to stay the one night, but prefer a site nearer a town or village.
This is a relatively small, pleasant site, arranged on tiers. We were on the top tier so had good views across the valley. Pitches are level but not huge.
The track for le Train de l'Ardèche runs alongside the site, and it's interesting to watch the steam train and wave at its occupants.
There's a small pool on site.
When we arrived, we asked for a pitch on ACSI for one night. We were told to come back and pay in the morning. We were expecting to pay 16 euros, as advertised on the ACSI app (stated from 20/08, this was 25/08).
We were surprised then to be told no ACSI until 27/08 and subsequently charged 32. 99 euros (inc tax)! Thank goodness we only stayed for one night!
Note to self: in future, insist on paying for overnights on arrival 😀. via mobile
