Date of Visit: July 2025 Unit:  Motorhome

We stayed here for 4 nights in July. Booking was very easy online, the deposit was 1 night's fee (£22 at the moment). There are 4 hardstandings and 2 grass pitches. As a CL of course they are limited to 5 units at a time, so I can only assume that the grass pitches are rotated. You can choose whether you want a hardstanding or grass pitch at the time of booking. Following the booking and payment of deposit I received 2 emails, one with confirmation of booking, the second one with loads of information; how to get there, things to do in the area, places to eat, etc, etc. I've never had something as informative and comprehensive as that from any CL or site before.

The access road is good and the drive in to the site (2nd entrance, the 1st entrance is to the house) is very wide, so no problem at all. We were met by the owner and pitches are allocated, with the details on the blackboard by the entrance to the CL itself. We were given pitch 6, which is a HS, and it would seem the biggest pitch of all. They are all very generous though, with good spacing between units. Pitch 6 is next to the barn, so the "view" on that side of the pitch isn't exactly fantastic, but we put the MH nose in and had the door on the opposite side where we also sat out, so that was fine. The CL has an information room, where there is also a WC and another WC with a shower in the same room. There are no washing-up facilities. Facilities extremely clean at all times, and in fact, for the first 2 days we were the only ones there, so had them all to ourselves.

We brought our bikes with us and cycled every day in all directions; there are quite a few small roads suitable for cycling, although a few of them did have some fast cars on them, but were never busy. The Ice cream farm is just down the road from the CL if that's your thing; we didn't go in, but the carpark was quite full every time we went past, it seems very popular. Tattenhall village is the nearest with a Spar, Post Office/shop and some independent shops. The canal is very close, walking distance, and the marina entrance is opposite the ice cream farm.

The CL is extremely quiet, it's a working farm, but it was incredibly quiet in the evening; we sat outside and there wasn't a sound.

The price was extremely reasonable at £22 per night, which includes 10kWh of electric per day, anything over that is charged at 35p per kWh. We used 21 kWh over the 4 days we were there, so well under our allowance. We only saw the owners on the first day, when she came round later to take payment. We read the meter ourselves on arrival, so we could keep an eye on it, and on departure, but unless it was read without us noticing, we didn't see the owners again after the first day.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would go again.
