 Freizeit Cochem Camping is located on the banks of the Mosel river on the opposite bank to the main town. It's about a 15-20 minute walk or 5 minute cycle ride from the town.
Most pitches are on grass, some have shade. The site staff connect you to the EHU points, there are water points scattered throughout the pitches.
The site has an on-line booking system which requires you to select your pitch. People turning up on spec had to go through this procedure even though the reception is open. The staff themselves are friendly and helpful, some English is spoken.
There are a couple of sanitation block which are a bit dated but were clean. The site also has a bar and a restaurant with a limited menu.
As has been mentioned, the site is on the opposite bank to the main road and a railway track so there is some noise throughout the night from this, there is also river traffic some of which goes on at night. None of this stopped us from having a peaceful nights sleep.
Nearby there is a supermarket and bakery (closed Sundays except the bakery which is open in the morning). There is an open air pool close by. Just down from the site there are bus stops, the buses ranging along the Mosel.
The lovely town can be accessed by walking along the road you access the site from, eventually it takes you alongside the river. In the town there is some interesting architecture and plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. It's a great place to visit (though it does get a bit busy at times).
If we're in the area again we'd happily stay here again.

Cochem is a jewel of a town on the Mosel river. Despite being sited right next to the river and across the river there is a busy road and railway track, it was very quiet and peaceful.
There are longterm static vans but they are very well maintained and neatly arranged.
All the facilities are very clean and everything functions as it should.
This is a well run site and a pleasant 20 minutes walk into Cochem where you will find beautiful architecture, shops, restaurants and bars. We loved it all.
This is our 3rd visit to Cochem. We use it as a stop over enroute to Austria and Italy.

This was our 2nd visit to this site this year.
Excellent base for Cochem which is a lovely old town and and excellent base for visiting various places in the Mosel Valley.
Good value and excellent facilities.

Nice site on the banks of the Mosel and a short walk into the towm of Cochem. Good facilities. Excellent pool nearby. The town of Cochem is great, with cobbled streets and lots of nice places to eat and drink.
