After a long journey from the North Midlands, it was nice to arrive at Rockbeare for a ten night stay! Nice and peaceful on site, warmly welcomed and pointed out to a good spot to set up! Big pitches, plenty of space, electric hookup and water available!
In all honesty the toilet and shower facilities are a little tired but we’re not complaining at all, as they’re adequate, they're always very clean and we had no problems while we were there!
There’s a little noise as expected from the local building site which is not too close but they were not too early or too late on site! There’s some road noise but not loads of it, of course we then added to that noise as we ourselves drove around the area!
Exeter Airport is not too far away but it’s certainly not a busy airport, flights not too early or too late and didn’t cause us any bother!
Easy to get out and about from this site! There are lots of places to visit within easy reach, Exeter, the coast, lovely little towns and villages, also plenty of National Trust properties!
We would be more than happy to book again, if we come back to this lovely spot in Devon!
This site has five hardstandings and is only a few minutes drive from the motorway. The location is pleasant being on the edge of a village but, unfortunately, one that has no shops. However the Exeter Caravan Centre and an upmarket gastropub are within walking distance.
The pitches are well laid out, roomy and flat and each has an electric hook-up and a water tap. However, the facilities are very basic with very small washbasins, cramped shower and toilet which were not up to our standard of cleanliness when we stayed for a one night stopover. It also suffers a little from aircraft noise as Exeter Airport is nearby. Nevertheless it’s certainly worth considering as a break in the journey to and from Cornwall or South Devon as long as you have your own on-board facilities.
