Flower Camping l'Abri-Côtier is a very well-maintained family run small campsite run by Adeline and Laurent BARAT. Their welcome is always so friendly, and nothing seems too much trouble to keep their guest happy. This is a 3-star site, but we would certainly return. It is in a great location for visiting Rochefort, La Rochelle, Ile de l’Orion and Île de Ré. The pitches are a decent size up to 150sqm if you look around, divided by mature hedges. The covered swimming pool is good but has almost no sun lounger area outside the covered pool which is a shame. However, you are not far from the lovely beaches at Fouras and Châtelaillon-Plage, which are classic French seaside towns. The bar, snack bar and small shop open in early July. If you like mussels, then a trip to the fishing village of Tremblade (35 mins) is a must. Drive out to the small restaurants on the quayside north of the town and try the Eclade des Moules (Mussels cooked under pin needles). Both spectacular to watch the cooking and a fantastic taste. With an ACSI card the cost was Euro 15 this year, a great find.
