 Absolutely super site. Very clean and tidy. Lots of bird life and wild flowers.
The site managers ( Lesley and Bob) are very helpful indeed.
An hour's walk takes you into Ely and all the sights on offer there, otherwise there are walks to the different local rivers for more bird life and watching the boats.

Pleasantly surprised how nice this site was. Nicely set out, quiet & only hr walk from Ely town
I followed sat nav using postcode which took us through a different entrance which wasn't signposted so was unsure what to do when we arrived but we found reception & the owner confirmed we had taken farm entrance & explained we could stay where we were which was conveniently near toilet/shower block or drive back down Rd we had come up to the other available spaces with electric.
We were more than happy with our pitch which was nice & level and we were able to park shielding us from wind.
Was quiet & with nice views over the fields & only hr walk into town which was a nice walk & signposted from the site
The only thing I would say is that it wasn't till we walked down the Rd to Ely that we spotted the actual sign to the site which wasn't overly visible from the Rd
There was nowhere to empty toilet or grey waste either & to fill our motorhome with water we would hve had to drive out of the site & round to reception which was no issue just not in a place easily accessible
Would return again & would recommend to others

I have to say I quite liked this campsite, it’s a gem.
The campsite is quite out in the sticks, you have to approach a lane (dirt track) to get to it, but it’s signposted well on the dirty track, just park in the car park and walk to reception and they inform you where you will be situated.
The campsite is about 3 miles from Ely centre, you can see the Cathedral clearly in the distance. I walked to Ely on 2 days (train station and centre), it’s, not 2 miles, it took me about an hour and I am a medium fast walker. The reception on site sells some food and stuff, I would recommend stocking up prior, due to the location, if you haven’t got a car, it’s a very long walk to the nearest convenience store or even pub.
The campsite staff are extremely helpful and welcoming.
On Fridays they do a Pizza night, had one and it was great. Saturdays they get in curry from a place in Ely, I didn’t have that, but both must be ordered at least 2 days in advance.
I stayed in a campervan, the plot was one of the biggest I have had, had no issues for space. They allow firepits generally, but the time I was there, it was banned due to the weather excess heat. Also the site has glamping huts, which looked good from a distance.
The site prides itself on recycling and it’s wildlife. The setting of the site is lovely, I liked the natural grown borders on the site, this did help cut down any noise, the campsite was one of the quietist I have been on.
There is a host of wildlife around. I found some beetle, which seemed to adore my sun lounger and wanted to share it with me! There are wasps, mosquitoes and bees flying around, much more than other sites I have been on, but you are in their kingdom!
The toilet block good. The shower block about 5 showers one with a bath. Good hot water pressure, showers modern. I had no issues at all with them.
The only gripe I had, no plugs in the washing up sinks. I suppose this is to stop flooding, but they are outside on ground. I sometimes have gas cooker grill pans to clean, I have to soak them slightly prior, washing up this way, without being able to fill up the sink, is quite nauseating.
I would most certainly stay again.

Really enjoyed staying on the site. Perfect facilities, powerful showers, large plot, peaceful, good recycling system.
Could have used the fire pit if had not been so hot.
There was nothing we did not like.
Have recommended to friends and will hopefully come back soon!

There is nothing mad about this campsite! It is delightful. The site caters for many different camping needs; fully independent or GWE. There is a lovely four/ five plot grass standing for motor home/camper vans all very close to the amenities. The tenting sites are very well spaced out in circular plots so you get a generous amount of ground for your tent.
Most plots have campfire facilities. The wonderful aspect of this site is the wild flower vegetation. It is stunning. When we were there the dog-daisies were prolific; it looked like it had been snowing.
The ablutions are very good indeed and are kept immaculately. You even get the choice of showers fixed at different temperatures. A bonus for us was that the water had been passed through a water filter which made the water very soft. We live in a hard-water area, so it was lovely for us.
The proprietors were very friendly and chatty and were obviously hard working.
The Mad Hatter theme presents itself with large posters around the site and each tent pitch has a picture and a name of an A. I. W. Character.
The site is surrounded by fields growing a variety of crops.
The great River Ouse is a ten minute walk away and is ideal for bird spotting. So take your binoculars with you and go for a walk.
This is a great campsite. Book it.

We stayed in The King of Hearts wooden tent.
So much room and was extremely well kitted out.
The owners had thought of everything.
The washing facilities were spotless and one of the family bathrooms actually had a bath in it as well as a separate shower.
Perfect.
The site was well kept, close to Ely and the river.
We took our dog with us too, he loved it.

Beautiful setting, helpful staff on site and great facilities.
As a ‘birder’ I was in my element and got some decent shots!
Plenty of space to exercise my dogs too.
Will definitely return! 👍🏻

We loved this site once we found it. Brilliant set up, excellent clean hot showers (but a grab handle in shower cubicle would have made them safer for anyone like me with a disability) electric hookup, level grass pitch, accessible eco friendly recycling and very helpful manager/owners.
On the down side, be warned not to attempt access by the Second Drove lower road…a nightmare of potholes. Go via Clayway if you value your tyres or suspension!
Also, we had hoped it was nearer to Ely or on a direct bus route as once we had set up, we didn’t want to try driving the MH in the town itself. We ended up getting taxis. £10 each way. If the weather had been better, we might have tried cycling.
We loved Ely and would definitely stay at Mad Hatters again probably in the summer so we could appreciate the beautiful surroundings.
