I stayed here one night whilst cycling the C2C, it is a few miles off the route though, and would mean a long detour avoiding the long freewheel into Durham, or a massive climb via the Linzgarth arch (I'm not doing that again).
It is a small site and only open to C&CC members, I had booked in advance and paid £15 on arrival.
It is conveniently near the road and easy to find, pubs and a cafe are a short walk away. The field is banked up on one side near the road, which was good for avoiding car headlights. I don't know what it is normally like, but on a damp September at dusk there were midges about, but not the biting sort.
The single shower and toilet room was clean, but would be busy if there were more than a few people wanting to use it.
It met my requirements for somewhere to stay one night and have a shower.
