 Wild Camp Northumberland is an overlooked treasure! Though the site is basic (no showers) it is really well maintained and isn't a year round campsite but part of a working farm. The farmers are really canny, warm and helpful. They've more than once helped a get a pal's vehicle out of a pickle! There are portaloos available and water on site. No hookups.
The views over the Tyne valley and out towards Northumberland are stunning. There are a couple of lovely walks you can do from the campsite and the local pub, The Feathers, has something for everyone from delicious, local, home cooked food, to games for kids, and a selection of local ales, gins, etc.
We camped up there in 50mph winds but were protected up by the hedge line and suffered no damage to our tents! Treated to a lovely, starry night the second night.
Off-the ground fires are permitted and it's a really good atmosphere on a summer evening - quiet, relaxed and friendly. 10 out of 10.

Huge site on a sloping farmers field. The farmer comes around to collect fees and is friendly and helpful.
There are porta loos and a water supply, otherwise no facilities.
Excellent place for a quick night away for me as it’s close to home.
Decent food pub just along the road, but they shut as soon as meals are done, by about 9. 30pm.

A huge sloping hill field or two but with flat bits round the edges, a site with no frills - just a portacabin toilet or two and running water.
A great welcome, a sense that you are a wanted guest.
The views across the Tyne valley are superb.
There is a pub a short walk away in the village but unfortunately it was closed for the week I was there.
I had a great time, perfect for exploring Hadrian's wall, Causey Arch and other attractions in the area.

Just how camping used to be, back to the wild. Lighting a campfire at night and watching the fiery sunsets, waking in the morning to hear the cows waiting to be milked, and seeing the mists clear over the horizon as the sun comes up. Even when it rains, the air feels fresh and clean as it blows through the tent opening. Bliss.
Look forward to getting back there in the autumn. Hospitality excellent, Richard’s welcome makes you feel at home and Julie does her rounds making sure everyone is okay. Great place.
Easy to get to historic and special interest sites, as well as cities and coast. Even wilder places nearby include moors and fells.
No luxuries for wild campers - a tap and a toilet. A five minutes walk to a prize-winning gourmet pub and all the clean fresh air you can want. Stunning views.
