It was my second visit to Barra and to this campsite.
It is a small but well presented campsite with great facilities and a friendly welcome too.
The site has everything you could ask for really. It is close to the airport and just a short distance from the ferry terminal to/from the Eriskay.
There many beaches are close by and well worth a walk exploring.
I would recommend this site to anyone visiting the island

We loved our stay at Barra Sands Campsite. Very friendly welcome and clean, warm washrooms.
Great access to a beautiful white sand beach.
Our final night coincided with Storm Floris and the owner kindly moved us into one of the log cabins.
We highly recommend this campsite with its many thoughtful touches.

Very well organised ( though at first you don’t realise this). Derrick ( Derek?) is exceptionally welcoming to everyone without fail- all are greeted like he is so chuffed you are there.
We had been a tad foolish and had arrived on the Hebrides without booking ferries- each day he gave us space to wait it out for a ferry place so we could see what a well organised site behind that laid back charm.
Expected to stay 2 nights but we’re here for 8, arriving late after issues with ferry. Takes everything in his stride and is basically the role model for wardens everywhere.
Toilets and showers great. Okay a £1 for 8 minutes maybe more than you need but enjoy the piped music. All clean and loo roll appeared as if by magic.
Enjoy the birdsong, the walk to the beach to see the little terns and hunt for the elusive corncrake.
Nice walks from the site that Derrick can advise on. About 25 minutes drive to the ferry and would urge people to stay on a campsite rather than trying to get a “ freebie” out in the wild. Even when an early start, put money in the local economy. Recommend the food at padulas near the Co op. Great dinner ( as in middle of the day!)
Walked to the airport ( about 45 mins away) and had lush cake there whilst watching planes. Even went on a local nature walk that saw advertised that was brilliant and saw an eagle.

Absolutely lovely site and nice views all around. Owner Derek is sound with great welcome and advice on walks etc.
Facilities were spacious, plenty for the site and kept warm.
We had great weather and had a lovely circular walk to see the plane land and take off at the tiny airport ( lovely staff, cakes and coffees) then back over the headland.
Would definitely return

Lovely campsite with nice clean and functional toilets and showers.
Just a shame there’s no direct access to the beach, unless you sneak through the Croft next door, if they’re not there.

Really nice site with excellent views, facilities and Derek the site manager was helpful and friendly.
The major downside for us was that we thought we had booked for a site near a beach but you have to walk or drive some distance to a small harbour and then circle back to access the beach.
We booked for two nights but moved to another site without this restriction after one night

Wonderful rest overlooking awesome white sand beaches.
Facilities (toilets/ showers/ hook ups/ fridge/ washing machine/ washing line) all there and well kept.
Throw in peace and quiet, and what’s not to like.
Thanks very much, Derek. Chris & Mary

Beautifully well kept site with amazing beach views / sunset views /
Clean / spacious facilities, our pitch No 5 was perfect,
Owner Derek was very welcoming / helpful with lots of knowledge of local things to see and do.
We met some lovely people too, our dog was happy walk along all the stunning beautifully white sandy beaches, we were totally blown away!
Just round the corner on the way to the beach was an honesty box bakery selection, delicious and fresh.
Not far from the airport where you can watch planes land on the spectacular beach, seems to be on everyone’s bucket list.
Thanks for everything Derek, hope to see you again soon!,
