 This is just a stopover, nothing more nothing less.
Water points dotted about the site, and some EHU will need your full 25mtr cable.
If it's wet, and it normally is, you, and if you have them dogs, will be trailing muck into your unit.
The Elsan dump is a trek from most pitches and hidden in a dark corner round the back of the toilet block. Watch your footing here because the slabs can have a nice green coating on them from the trees.
The gray water dump is the oddest I have ever seen, it's a manhole cover with a heavy chain secured to the centre that you pull to lift the cover, but it only comes up about 18 inches. I watched four vans trying to get angles right to enable a dump to no avail. One guy with a Wastemaster had to get some one to pull the cover up and hold it to allow him to dump gray.
To the management, there must be something better you can come up with surely.
Still you do have the lovely, but wildly expensive shop, close by.

Great overnight site close to M6 motorway but quiet and secluded and as a solo woman traveller I felt very safe here. Dog walk close by with views out to Shap and moorland was a bonus. Rabbits kestrels and wildlife abound.
Electric hookup and water point directly next to parking spot. If you've booked online, getting in is easy as the ANPR system recognises your vehicle. So no worrying about whether the gate will be manned if you arrive late.
Showers with hot water, toilets and washing up area were all spotless and in a purpose built unit with outside picnic tables 30 seconds walk from the parking spot. Easy access to the facilities with a wheelchair via an accessible path and entrance. Chemical waste point made it easy for me to empty and clean my toilet cassette. Waste bins on site.
This is a really handy, clean and well thought out stop-over site for travellers going north or south on the M6. I felt it was good value for £28 per night for my van and little dog given some of the quotes I received from sites further south on the M6 which were £10 more expensive.
I always buy food items from the Tebay / cafe shop on my way south as gifts for friends. I look forward to calling in and using the £3 gift voucher Tebay gave me when I booked [valid till November] on my next journey south.
A great find via this website and highly recommended.

We were travelling south, so had to go through the south bound services and back across the motorway as described in the booking pack. Very easy. Just had to walk back to the forecourt to register my car so that I avoided a fine.
Simple site but had everything we needed for a stopover. Water and electric to each pitch.
Showers were awkward as you had to switch on from outside the cubicle with a door that opened inwards. I had to be very careful that my dry clothes did not become wet! Awkward again switching off while trying not to expose myself.
Floor tiles felt slippy under my shoes, so be careful what you wear - normally mine are very grippy.
Toilets and showers very clean.
Labelling on rubbish bins would be good if we are supposed to recycle.
Only a faint hum of the motorway could be hear if you tried.
Short walk to the main services
I will definitely use again

We stayed here to break up the journey south from Scotland. The campsite is actually on the northbound side of the M6 so instructions were followed to get there from the southbound side of the M6. Took a few minutes.
Also had to drive down a narrow path from the services down to the campsite and a dog walker thought we were possibly on the dog walk! Follow the instructions and signage, it’s correct.
The site is sheltered with trees adjacent to each row of pitches, with all the usual facilities within a block.
It’s a spacious camping area, good value at about £25 including electric hook up. Bring a torch, dark at night.
You get a £3 voucher to spend at the services. It doesn’t buy you much I have to say but we did buy some massive cinnamon pastries which were very good.
The site closes for winter in early November, you can pay to park you caravan/moho there off grid for a bit less.
It’s a useful stopover for a long journey north or south.
The highlight is the farm and gift shop which is pricey but has good quality stuff for sale. Good Breakfast too, better than most motorway services.

What a great little find for the tired weary traveller on the M6 Near Penrith, Cumbria. A service station with a difference.
The services are really good and not your ordinary run of the mill offering and to have a camp site there too is great.
There are toilets and showers, basic but clean. Chemical waste disposal, waste water disposal. Also EHU on each pitch.
There is also water and drainage on nearly all pitches some may have to share.
It is in a little wooded glade and you would never know that the M6 was running past, you cannot hear traffic noise at all.
It can be accessed from both the North and South bound services. From the Southbound there is a service road that takes you across the motorway to the campsite on the North side.
Advanced booking is a good idea too.
