I enquired using the booking form on this site and received a prompt and polite reply from the owner, and she was even more accommodating when I had to change the booked date by a week.
On my reply from the owner I was provided with the gate code and directions. The site is easy to find and is located behind nice large secure chained gates, which made me feel very comfortable and safe.
The only facilities on site are recycling, fresh water and chemical disposal point. These are more than adequate, and perfect for my one night stay.
The field is plain and simple, no frills and great for a quiet chilled night of star gazing and relaxing. There are hook up points around the edges and I ran my charger, and 800w oil filled rad with no problems from the supply.
Nothing for the children in terms of pay areas, except a huge open field to play ball, run around, etc.
The site is about a 2 mile walk across the countryside to the visitor centre / cafe at Grafham Water and I continued on and walked the whole of the reservoir and it was a total of 11 miles. It is a fairly flat and easy walk, with some great places to stop and watch the wildlife or the boating action on the reservoir.
I did not venture out from the site as was a quick one-nighter for a stay and walk the next morning, however nearby villages and towns are around for all your shopping essentials and needs.
I would stay again and at £17 per night including electric, this is a good price, location, coupled with friendly owners and a great view.
A nice enough site with good views, except for the bottom pitch. It's on a bit of a slope, but easy enough to get levelled up. Easy to find following the CAMC directions. Good response to my email, but we weren't given the gate code. Luckily someone was around. The gate is a big thick wooden one with a numbered padlock, so good security.
Graham Water is only a couple of miles away, a must if you haven't been. Kimbolton church is worth a look. Otherwise, it's not the most interesting part of the country, but makes a good stopover, a few miles from the A1 and A14. There are good walks by the river at St Neots, and a big Tesco.
There is a small convenience store in Kimbolton, fuel and food store just off the A14, going west.
Price was £16 per night, fair enough. Good recycling. via mobile
