Lovely site on bank of river Derwent where I saw my very first Kingfisher. A railway line runs parallel with the river but it is not very noisy at all. The site is very clean and well kept. Plenty of hot water, shower/toilet facilities and electric hook up. Washing up area outdoors under canopy; we were ok as luckily it didn't rain.
Site got quite busy Friday and Saturday nights. No shop on site but gas is available. No playground.

Good spot from which to see Derbys. About 20 mins from Chatsworth (beautiful but you need a full day to see the house and even parts of the garden)and not far from Matlock. Chesterfield well worth a visit.

I would use the site again.

Nice site, I was surprised how big it was and that it had statics too. There is a low bridge to negotiate to get on to the main campsite and I didnt think our motorhome would go under it but it did. We unfortunately chose one of the wettest weekends to camp and we were pitched on what appeared to be the muddiest section of the campsite at the time. So when the thunderstorms set in we were in a quagmire. The site wardens/owners are obviously not responsible for the weather however it would have been better not to pitch us on that part of the campsite.

We didnt let this upset our weekend nevertheless and enjoyed our stay, I can imagine it is lovely if you get the weather. Matlock Bath is very nice and we went on the cable cars at Abrahams Heights, word of warning to those of you scared of heights, dont do it ! I didnt think when I got on them that it would be so hair raising it is 554 ft up and you can appreciate that height when you're in a small cable car. The kids loved it however and had a good giggle at mum and dad who turned a whiter shade of pale when the car stopped for photos. Remember to pay for a good stay in the car parks before you go on as we didnt get chance to go all around the park before the parking ticket ran out. It does state that one of the party can go back in the cable cars to renew parking but neither of us fancied an additional trip to do so. Lots of other things to do around and about although the weather unfortunately put us off. Wouldnt mind repeating the trip in better weather.

I've seen better toilet facilities but they were ok. Oh and we couldnt get a TV reception, I presume because its in the middle of a valley, I noticed lots of the statics and some tourers had satelite dishes. Thats a minor winge as you dont really go camping to watch the telly but you do get used to having all the home comforts. The train track was right behind our camper and you can hear it but they're not very long carriages so the noise doesnt go forever and didnt bother us at all. My brother left his tent for an early morning stroll and saw a kingfisher on the riverbank , he was well impressed.

Been to this site several times now for its lovely riverside setting. It was very busy this weekend; despite being rather too close for comfort, obvious care had been taken with pitching as us 'livelier' ones were down the far end.
Sadly we learnt that this little gem of a site will be closing in sept for the development of 'park homes' - even the statics are going. So another little slice of beauty is being taken for entrepreneureal gain.

We stayed at this site for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. An excellent base for exploring Matlock it has a lovely setting by the river and some lovely walks close by. My only gripe was that we had a group of teenagers opposite who were very noisy well after 11pm, though our kids got their own back in the mornings lol!!!!! The old couple who run the site were extremely friendly and everytime they past us they checked everything was ok

Nice presented site , though we thought they seemed a little strict (no bbq's ) The site has all the neccesary facilities shower block pot wash etc, although workmen on the train line at night seemed to drag on forever. Don't think we will be going back in the future I would give the site 5-6 out of 10 .

This was our third visit to Merebrook, I love the setting, down on the side of the river. The site does have a railtrack passing through it, but I honestly didn't notice the trains that much. On the downside, we were not able to choose where we pitched the tent? thats down to the guy who looks after the place. Luckily he put us on the rivers edge, but far to close to another tent!! I realise it was Bank Holiday, but I dont like being packed in like Sardines.
The showers are free, no extra money to find, but you must remember to keep pushing the button to keep the hot water flowing. I think the site would benefit from an extra loo or two, but what was there, was at least kept reasonably clean. Wash Up is free too, four domestic sinks complete with drainers.
On the plus side it's a great base to work from, The Tramway Museum at Crich, Various Caverns, Arkwright's Cotton Mill, in fact many splendid local visitor atractions. I'd give the site 7/10
