This was a lovely, well maintained, site with spectacular views back over Nottingham.
The owner was very friendly and helpful. We stayed here whilst involved in a sport event near the university, a 15/20 minute drive away.
Access is quick and good from the M1 and down a long drive from the road.
The pitches are immediately adjacent to a walled farm yard and horse riding facility, so expect there to be noise from it being a working farm and well used by riders from quite early in the morning.
It is also quite breezy and we'd brought an awning, but the site is probably more suited to use of something like a Fiamma Canopy with adjustable props, or windshield, in my opinion - due to the slope.
Apart from 2 concrete hardstandings the other pitches were grass and there is quite a slope on the site, so come prepared. The furthest pitch from the entrance seems to be the best for a more level pitch.
Visitors will need their own facilities (shower/toilet). There is a good local choice of tea rooms (2) and pubs (3 within a short drive, or walk down marked footpaths across lovely countryside) The site fee (£15) was very reasonable per night, but didn't include electric.
Our bill for that worked out at about £2 per day - fridge, caravan lights, microwave, TV and boiling a kettle. Telephone and WiFi reception was good.
I can recommend this site if you want somewhere quiet, with lovely views and easy trip into the city.
There are several supermarkets and shops in nearby Sandiacre too if you don't want to go too far.
Easy to find from J25 of the M1. Coming from the north, make sure you go right round to the last junction signed Risley, but if you find yourself on the A52 towards Derby, 2 miles along turn left and go from there. Adds on a few miles.
The site is on No Mans Lane, which is a bit narrow and potholed, but ok with care. It's the 2nd Farm, access is easy. There is a new concrete hardstanding, which is difficult to get onto.
You are meant to use your mover to get on from the bottom, but it's impossible to get the caravan in the right position. The hedge needs cutting away and some sort of hard area made opposite the hardstanding. We drove from above, over the grass which was muddy and were told off.
Once on, it's ok, good views to south and west, but the tap and CDP are too far away. It should be a great site, and with a few tweaks it would be. Easier for a small motorhome ATM.
We would use it again, but in drier conditions and would hope that some adjustments were made. It's a good stopover.
A basic £15 pn, but we paid £6pn for EHU which seems a lot. via mobile
