Booked really early in the year to be able to have a front pitch. The view is best here but also closest to the road, which is the single track road down to Fionnphort, not overly busy but some noise late and early. Quite expensive but sites on mull are. Found the toilets and showers clean, but busy and not enough of them, we were mid week and did wait for toilet in mornings. Showers fluctuated in temp but not to cold just warm to luke warm so not bad.
Dog walk area is just for ablutions or throwing a ball. We were disappointed we never found a walk from the site, so could just walk the road and a small section of grass and shingle to the north of the site. The road isn’t a place to walk dogs as single track and some fast drivers in the evenings we found. Nice café/ takeaway up road to walk to. Watched for wildlife and did see a brief otter and Eagle. Sunset right in front. Loch is over road and then mountains, so scenic.
Site was very busy, nearly full and quite noisy, we didn't find it peaceful enough to sit out. Pitches quite close together, and shillies from track hit you as cars pass to and from other areas. Is there a speed limit, signs not visible if there is, so should be more about the site.
Pub was good to have nextdoor but expensive so only used once. Shop stocked everything. Laundry with shop but tumble dryer out if order on the wettest day sadly. Good location to visit iona, but long drive from Tobermory and about 1hr single track road from ferry port.
Odd path up to toilet units led to blocked route, so access to them could be improved. 2 washing up sinks under cover and a disabled unit available. No information available on site, would have been good to have a shed or room with map of walks in for example.
Pitch was sloping forwards, I think one pitch had already been levelled towards the dog walk but the others need done at the front. Further back seemed better. Grass was long at front and towards the foot gate, weather had been dry but then once wet it was soaking your feet before you got anywhere.
We also found people cutting through pitches, but at the front they had no option to access the gate, needs a path cut in.
I hope the site makes the little improvements.
We were a little disappointed in the site I suppose as it was so new we expected more. via mobile
Our first visit to Mull and the only site we stayed at.
There is a large electronic screen upon arrival that informs you of your pitch. There is no "host" interaction, but we don't mind that and think the site runs well. Others may miss that personal touch.
The pitches are well spaced with hard standing and a grass area to the left to sit etc. The pitches are off set so each plot has a view of the Loch just a few meters away.
The toilet block and pan washing area is in the centre, the toilets are clean and there was plenty of hot water. There are only three showers in each of the male and female toilet block and I can imagine that they may get quite busy in peak season. However, we never needed to queue at any point. The showers operate on a timed push button system, each push provides about 30secs of hot water, you cant adjust the temp, but I found them a good hot temp. The only thing is when you first activate them they are obviously cold and you either start them from outside and risk flooding the floor space, or you suck it up and prepare for a blast of cold water.
The washing up area was clean and sheltered and nice touches such as washing up liquid provided and a kettle for those camping, there s also a fridge and freezer.
There is a lovely shop on site and an Inn. The inn is quite small and does get busy, so you will likely need to book a table.
There was everything we needed for our stay and thought the site was very good. We would recommend and would stay again.
Our first visit to this relatively new site. Booking all completed online, a few staff seen throughout the day so not the friendliest of greetings on arrival.
The camping field is fairly open to the Loch giving fantastic views over the water and back to Ben More. Despite this, we found the site surprisingly sheltered from the strong SE to SW winds we experienced.
£24pn for 2 and a tent. Facilities very clean, loads of hot water. Freezer and wash up area. The drinking water appears brown but no adverse effects! Fairly limited number of cubicles for showers and toilets but never had to queue.
There was a shelter right at the far end of the camp field, strange location and never saw it used. Central would be better? Also, 2/3rds of the site caters for camper vans, mostly staying a single night.
Very little atmosphere or character to the site but certainly seems popular. Usual issues with dog owners using the camping field to exercise their dogs.
There is a fantastic shop next to the site. There is a launderette facility. There is a pub next to the site doing food. We didn't eat there but people that did reported that is was OK. I went for a beer, nothing local on offer or any room to sit inside, all for diners, so I sat outside and got attacked by midges. You are better of buying a bottle from the shop and sitting outside your tent!
Close to Carsaig. Walk the 5miles to LochBuie, if you can get someone to meet you there for a lift back. Awesome stretch of coast and saw 3 sea eagles.
This is a great site, with all pitches facing the sea loch with lovely views of both the loch and Ben More. You can select your specific pitch when booking too. It is perhaps one of the most expensive of the Mull sites but worth it I think for the location, views and facilities (it is a very new site).
Location is good for visiting most places on Mull as you can reach Fionnphort for the Iona ferry, drive the scenic route over to Loch na Keal or drive back through the mountains to Lochbuie or Craignure, castle Duart etc.
We had some lovely wanders along the lochside wildlife spotting, it was a lovely place to potter around in the evenings or to do some walks from the site. We spotted otters and white tailed eagles on the other side of the loch on the route over to Loch Na Keal and I know others have spotted otters quite often on the shore near to the campsite itself.
It's very handy to have such a well stocked shop and the pub next door, although the pub is quite busy so it's a good idea to book (the menu is quite small and also quite expensive but the food was decent). The site was pretty immaculate and the facilities were good. Showers are push button and very hot (no temperature control) and it's hard to actually get out of the water, but perhaps I'm just a bit more sensitive to temperature than some and you do adjust! It's certainly better to have the water a bit too hot than too cold. It might be tricky for children though.
Overall we loved this site and I would definitely come back, it was lovely to sit by the van and watch the effect of the sunset on the loch and the mountains.
Very new site. Very clean. Toilets decent although shower cubicles are quite compact.
The pitches are closer together than I would really like, all being very close if you want to sit outside your van.
All pitches are flat but not quite level, with most people using ramps.
Shop and pub next door. Shop well stocked and pub very friendly with great food - do consider booking though, it gets busy!
Some low fencing or hedging between pitches, or at least rows, would be nice to reduce the number of numpties cutting through pitches (why do these people do this?) also any vehicle movements sound like they are right behind you.
Awesome views. Lovely walk along the single track road over the hill to the small port at Carsaig (where we saw an otter) and along the road to the old bridge where we saw Golden Eagles and Osprey.
It's a self check in and we only encountered site staff when we regularly saw them driving in a transit which, given the slow pace elsewhere was otherwise the fastest thing on the campsite! via mobile
