This is exactly what we expect from a CAMC CL, but we got more.
Booking via e-mail was easy, with quick replies from Cameron about availability. Paying via bank transfer was just as easy too.
Getting there was pretty simple for us (A1 > A697 > turn left after Powburn, for 2 miles of minor road. )
The site is as per the pictures on the CAMC site and the place's own website. The pitches are nicely set out, well spaced, and very level and compacted - I didn't need to level our van when we pitched up.
There's space for van, awning, and car without any compromise. The fully serviced pitch was well planned, with the tap and drain in the optimum place, and little touches like two hoselock type adaptors left on the tap on a cable tie was thoughtful.
There was a small fenced off bin area with easy to follow general/recycling/ glass/ BBQ ash notices, plus a brown waste disposal facility (looked like a converted toilet basin but my wife said it all worked easily enough!)
Most pitches were full on a weekday visit out of school holidays; we were the youngest there I guess in our mid 50s, so very peaceful and respectful atmosphere. Dog friendly too, and you can walk your dog straight off the site onto footpaths and riverside areas.
I've given 5 out of 10 for child friendliness. It's a perfectly safe, fenced in and gated site, but there's not really anywhere on site for younger kids to run round and let off steam. But there is a lot of countryside around the site if you have older kids who like to explore.
Nearby is Powburn - one pub, the Plough, 2. 3 miles walk, which was a great place for an afternoon drink, especially if you cut through via the Branton lakes nature reserve. There's a Running Fox cafe, plus Hedgley service station which has a typical garage shop. Wooler is eight miles up the A 697 but can be cycled to on a national cycle route as well that keeps you away from the main road.
Our neighbours were using the site as a base for touring Northumbria, so places like Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, etc are close enough to be visited. There's also excellent moorland walking nearby in the Cheviots and Simonside Hills. We did a lovely walk to Linhope Spout Waterfall, and the drive up the Breamish Valley to where we parked was beautiful in its own right.
You will hear and see plenty of wildlife; Oyster Catchers are everywhere, but the hedges and woods have a plethora of birds too. We watched hares feeding in the field immediately behind our caravan, and spotted Roe dee while we were out walking.
Brilliant site, especially for the price, so we will be back. Thank you Cameron and Jess!
A great CL site split into two separate fields on a working farm.
The pitches are large and the whole site immaculate. All pitches have EHU and water point.
Great location for Ingram Valley, Breamish Valley and the Cheviot Hills. via mobile
