Such an amazing bargain of a lovely little campsite.

You can't book ahead, just turn up and hope for the best. We were the second people there on a Sunday afternoon and managed to get a nicely sited pitch, it was getting full by the evening.

The reception area and toilet block look like they've recently had money spent on them, they were both clean and fresh and well equipped (and I'm pretty fussy on that point).

We had a warm welcome from the guy in charge.

A quiet site in a good location; the town centre with shops and cafes was close by as was the canal de la Marne au Rhin: good cycling to nearby villages.

We weren't there long enough to investigate the historical part of Bar le Duc but it looked amazing up on the hillside as we approached.

Definitely worth a stop off if you're in the area.
