Once we'd found our way in to the campsite (coming from the Bodensee-Konigssee cycle path means approaching from the rear and going all the way round the perimeter) we realised this was a big one! Then the lady at the desk said 'No, no tents'. Flummoxed, I asked where else we could go and she said 'wait a moment, I'll get a colleague to help you'.
Said colleague came out and immediately said they had a small area for tents without electricity or cars and it only cost 18 euros! So make sure you get the right desk person.
The small cycle tourist area can accommodate about 8 tents max; there were three others there when we arrived, and this was peak season.
Nice grass, easy to pitch although the odd stone.
The place is about 90% Germans, 8% Dutch and 2% assorted. It is clean and tidy but a little bit packed in for my taste. It's quite difficult to find your way around but they do give you a map and you can always use the camp-side river to orientate you.
There are tons of facilities of all sorts, including an outdoor pool. Still, very quiet at night, no entertainment, although there is a terrace/restaurant/bar for the evenings and a games room.
The washrooms were fine, but not the cleanest - I'd give them 7. 5 out of 10 (compared to other German sites).
There's a little shop but it's automatic - you scan and pay with your card but there's no-one there to explain it to you, so wait until someone goes in who looks like they speak English then follow them in!
The nearby town has plenty of facilities, including a supermarket and a train station. We didn't explore all the many facilities but it's obviously aimed at people in vehicles staying a week or more.
Overall, a perfectly good campsite but not much soul to it.
