We really liked the large open space for camping on the None EHU field. Pitch where you want to and no pitch numbers. However the toilet block was the next field over so quite a walk with young children.
The food van is only open certain times of the day, the playground is brilliant apart from the broken zip wire which was a disappointment.
Great steakhouse about 10 minutes down the road called the bowling green.

The site is a park site.
Arriving from Derby the site was on the left uphill into a steep hairpin bend. Should have gone on turned around and entered site on the right. Bit scary.
The reception was lovely very friendly staff. I love that.
Lovely, well maintained site. With a nice park for the kids. Pity we were without them.
The only problem was the 10-15 minute walk through all the static vans to the toilet block/elson point. They do look immaculate but we didn’t use the washroom/ toilet just the elson point as we don’t walk too well.
The Tissington trail is right outside the gate on the entrance. Ideal spot to cycle either way.
We stayed an extra night and managed to buy a meal for dinner in the shop on site.

Great campsite, nice and peaceful.
Facilities were clean and tidy. Added bonus of the swimming pool. Our daughter was too old for the park.
Easy walking distance into Ashbourne itself, we spend the afternoon walking around there.
Little shop on site with everything you need.

Clean, tidy. Couldn’t of been anymore helpful. I have mobility issues so they moved us closer to the toilets/showers.
My extension lead wasn’t long enough from the box to the tent so they lent us one.
Shop had plenty of choice and reasonably priced.
30 mins from Alton Towers.
Also gave us recommendations on pubs nearby and a take away that delivered to the site

Staff lovely and site generally well kept.
Another block of loos accessible to all would be good as would another Elsan point.
Loo block with showers is very dated. We were placed on edge of play park which is amazing for kids!
Bit noisy for us oldies but we booked late for a cheap price so weren’t too bothered.

Stayed here for four nights, price was very cheap for time of year,
It is situated right next to the tissington trail which offers lovely walks on a fairly flat path,
The only thing that let this site down are the toilet and shower block which is strangely situated amongst the static caravans
The block itself is in a very poor condition hence we used our own facilities.

Smashin site all you need clean tidy,
The staff are really nice, they all stop and speak.
Two minutes from the tissington trail, take your bike,
Only fly in the ointment is the main toilet block is in the middle of the statics close to the main tent field but a bit of a hyke from the the touring pitches {small point} otherwise bang on,
Return ? no probs

Just got back from Ashbourne Heights today, we loved it. We bought our first Caravan in lockdown (the first one in 2020) which was a doer upper and this was our/its first outing.
The site and pitches are well maintained, grass short, hedges trimmed and what appears to be daily strimming.
We didn't actually know our Toilet worked, or that our shower worked until late into our 2nd day (we had tried to test them before going away but failed and we are completely new to this) so we did use the factilities. The facilities were spotless, only 1 block open during the week due to COVID which makes sense. Hot showers, clean loos, a washing up area, grey water disposal, on site laundry, shop, pool and reception.
Ashbourne Heights is dog friendly and has its own dog walk, we only did part of it due to the weather but it was very nice. It is also sat right on the Tissington trail so you can easily venture out. I personally didn't enter the shop, or speak to the reception staff but have been told they had a good selection of goods in the shop and the staff were very friendly and nice to speak too.
There is an on site Bar/Cafe which is currently closed. Fingers crossed its open when we return in a couple of weeks. There is also quite a large play area for children in the centre of the park, right by the bar so parents can relax and still be able to watch their kids.
Overall, with the location of the site, the cleanliness, grounds maintenance and price, Ashbourne Heights is a great place to visit and I would recommend it to anyone who asks.

Three elements of our family visited in 3 touring caravans all for 3 nights. One retired couple, and family's in the other two.
Location is fine, it's a beautiful area, and the children's play/ activity area is great. Staff were in short supply and not especially helpful.
However none of us were happy with prices, especially when we saw the facilities. No food prep sinks/area, incredibly few toilets for the amount of visitors, and smelly by mid afternoon. Also few showers. All facilities are very few tired and dated.
The approach road is badly potholed and needs attention, there was no one at the gate to show us where to go when we arrived, (but there was the following day) so you end up abandoning your unit whilst trying to find Reception, the final bit of the single track approach road had extremely muddy verges so two vehicle can't pass without the potential for getting stuck when its wet.
We had booked direct and were told we had to pay the whole amount 10 weeks before we went We told the booking agent (?) we thought that was out of order and would not.
We had to call a number of times and were often referred to the Overspill line, and sometimes did not get any response whatsoever. We felt the booking line was very inconsistent.
Overall a disappointing trip and at a high price. We will not be going again
